wow, what a pain in the arse ...

i think that just made glass house harder .

Oh ... i could make meshes in RED have one of you guys import through 3Dmax so i can use them in levels without having to make a huge amount of brushes ... that would cut the detail factor down alot.

Its not that hard to make glass once you've finished the first one.
But yeah, movers are quite tricky (they have to be meshes) and its not easy to create the event for it. But there are tutorials for this.
I think I could make an example map, too.
Too bad the glass would break at the first shot, and no "scorches" will appear on it.

You can also convert brushes in UnrealEd to static meshes. Select them, right click and choose convert to....static mesh. Choose the package MyLevel and give it a name..
I'm not sure if this always works perfectly, though

Yeah the snap to grid button is on the bottom bar. You should set the grid to something like 2 if you were working with imported meshes.
Keep everything on the grid, otherwise you will get in real big trouble. (BSP holes appear when brushes are off-grid.)

alright, got to go now. Time to work on the mod. Havent done a lot since some days ago. My aunt had a wedding yesterday and half of my family came to visit our house Damn, that summer feeling is making me lazy, too. Its more fun to sit in front of the PC when its really cold outside.

Yea, i added Assultman as a co-leader, i thought we agreeed on that, oh well, now me and you (REDFROG0 are leaders, and assultman is a co-leader, im thinking of adding 1 more co-leader, but ill wait untill we get someone as reliable as assultman to be the other one

I made him a co-leader, but i can ditch him if you want

OK I was given the mod to try out by one of the leaders of this mod. I finally got around to testing it and I couldn't create a server. Neither dedicated or listen. I got these errors:

What I did was extract on the files into the folders that they needed to go into. Either I am missing a file or I am doing it wrong.

well... assman created a listen server, and me and JdS can join it, so theres no trouble with a listen server, it seems to only be the decicated.... any ideas anyone? i dont know anything about UnrealScript, but id say try 3dBuZZ.

Sorry I havent been around lately guys, Im switching rooms right now and haven't been able to get online. We are almosted finished, so should be back on properly by the end of the week.


Frank, your doing it like its a mod that runs normally.

Just extract the folder into a Redfaction folder. dont extract it like you would a skin/map.

IE>the maps wont go in the levels folder. It should look something like this:

C:\Games\UT2k4\Redfaction\levels

I think.

Try Auto extracting the file rather than manually doing it.

You just extract all files in the rar file to your UT2004 folder, then it will put it all there for you, then run UT with the command line "UT2004.exe -mod=RedFaction"

I'll try it again when I get home.
When I extracted the files to the main UT2004 folder. It placed a Red Faction folder there. I thought that was a mistake, so I put the files in the folder. I'll make a new short cut and try it out the "mod" way(UT2004.exe -mod=RedFaction).
I was hoping that this could be a mod that can be used to change vehicles and weapons in the game that most other mods are done. This way the server could have sent out the needed files so anybody could join without having to have the files. I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens.

No, those are Mutarors, the mod will not be a mutator, it will be a mod, with addons as mutators for this mod.

Oh, and frank, with mutators, the client has to download the mutator befiore they can play with it anyway....

if we made this as a mutator it would take forever for people to download the stuff ... if the mod get as big as i think it will at least

I know but at least they don't have to search where to get the mod. The way this is getting done a player won't be able to join unless the have the mod, just like Strike Force 2004, which is 245 megs. But that includes all the levels. Patch 1.80 for it is 32 megs. I haven't reinstalled the mod since I reformatted. The UT2004 became too much like Half Life 2, which I don't care for playing online.

OK I did it where I made the target on the shortcut this and it worked:

C:\UT2004\System\UT2004.exe -mod=RedFaction

But I have to say that the characters move way too fast. They move faster than what RF would be like. I used D2K's game speed to slow it down. It seem better at 95% of the speed that the game is set at when it's normal.

Here is a screen shot of one of the DM matches I had against bots:


Also the names on the maps themselves don't seem to be showing up. As you can see from the screen shot. It states:
RF DeathMatch in Untitled

It would also be cool if you guys released the Red Faction characters. Well the skins for them.
