It's a mod for unreal tournament 2k4 updating redfaction to a new level with shiny new textures and the ability to use vehicles.

On the mod itself... wow me and stalinator where thinking of this but never knew where to start... there is a lot of things ut 2004 can support yes... but people always complain of the limits of red faction to convert to unreal tournament 2004. What about the less visible limits of 2004. Red Faction had some unique features not often realised that would be really hard to emulate.
Red faction supports light refraction in water,(fire a rocket into a lake and see what happens)
Red faction supports realistic riquochets of which there is no precoded material in the new unreal games since the dismissal of the ripper.
Those are small things may be, and maybe some genious could code them, but we are put in our place with geo mod.

Overall you could create maps and you can create weapons and vehicles but maybe some features will be harder to produce which gave RF its real feeling and character. You have undertaken a mammoth project and the best of luck to you... if you guys come up with something good, then my hat is off to you. I do however think maybe you are leaving it late. Unreal tournament is due to release UT 2k7 so i am lead to believe very shortly and you would again be modding for an outdated game. Maybe its best not to start producing for now, but to draw out plans and ideas and wait for the new game. You never know the new UT could even turn out to have more beneficial tools for emulating RF's finer features.
I implore you to go on with this project but I also ask people to take a step back for a moment and stop complaining of the limits of red, though there are many limits, there are many interesting features even the newest games don't replicate and I'm betting sometimes while coding this mod.. you will wish that UT was not so limited.
Whether this works or whether it doesn't have fun and be creative and if something from red faction doesnt work, improvise. Make something interesting and inspiring.

Do you know anything about RedFaction?
Leninator, RED-FROG has found a way to simulate GEO in ut2k4.. check his CTF-RFBlastedCanyon map.
And yea frank, it is for UT2k4, not Red Faction |

I've since have corrected your mistakes.
That's right, it's a mistake to make a mod for UT2004. It is better the other way around. |

Plus, UT2k4 has some features not found in other games, such as it's ability to lag like no other! lol
I would think a mod for RF would be better, but now I must purchase UT2k4 since this mod is coming out! lol |

KillAllHumans, ive added you to the CDC as "Mapper". You only have access to post news posts, and edit news posts that YOU made. Do well and you may get more access. You map good Default RF Multiplayer maps and post screenshots of them. if you need a file hosted, let me know and ill upload it to the CDC. ill see about adding a page for each member.

Once I purchase UT2k4. As UED isn't much too hard, I have tested it out at a friends house. |

You should be able to get RF in a $5 or $10 bin somewhere, as its 6 years old.. UT2k4 was about $50 when i got it... that was at christmas... thats canadain sobe, wont be as much US.
anyways, when you get it, post here or PM me and ill add you
KillAllHumans, i would like you to start with making "Coffee Break" into a ONS. Just dont have any vehicles in this ONS, the map is too small... or you could have a couple scorpions if you make the map a touch bigger |
