Cool voices of the tech. I love to try out each new voice pack.
The voice packs include hurt sounds, right? But these aren't used in the game (they're for teamdamage only). I think I can also use them for regular hurt sounds. (well of course I can..almost everything is possible with that game )
Assaultman, are there also some death sounds in the voice packs? And is it possible to find these in the audio.vpp for each characer? (if not too much trouble)
I can't do any voices myself because they talk in german language (but the hurt and death sounds are in the global worlds language ..."spoken" by the german actors ))
I have just realized that the voice packs are .u files. Those guys may have to be added to the INI files as serverpackages entries. I hope that is the reason why dedicated servers crash.
I'll dance with Frank all night long if that is being the (HUUGE) problem..Get ready Frank

Ok, so you are going to include the hurt sounds to the game as well? sounds good to me ...
If i was you i would use the multi player death sounds ... i think they start with MP (either that or something to do with the player ... ill find the name for you ... ill post back or edit ...

Wait I said the hurt and death sound of my game are "global", but spoken from german actors...they sound different to the english or french ones.
Or maybe I just didnt understand you. Have you already added these death sounds to the voice packs?
I can't even remember if death sounds are played in Red Factions multiplayer |

It is possible. But instead of just making just the hills blue I decided to re do he whole thing to look more like Nemisis's skybox. 

I'll upload it and ask frank to add it to the last RF update. 
But if you still just want the clear Night sky with blue hills instead of green with nothing changed I could do that if you want... |

these are the death sounds played in multi and single when the player dies (when you die) ... the hurt sounds for the characters i used were out of singleplayer only and are played when you injure a character ... the Voice packaging system does not include a spot (that i know of) that plays a sound file when the character dies, so i assumed that was doen somewhere else other than the command system.
so i haven't added these to my voicepacks ...
Messing with this many audio files gets complex doesn't it

For you
I only have those smart .u files and add their names to the upl file..done. And thats why I appreciate your work so much 
I first thought someone would have to send me all the audio files, or that I had to buy the english version
DVL_IAC I think we can trust ya Of course you can test the version, you've done so much for the mod.
We will need some internet testing before the mod goes public. My LAN connection is faster than the internet (I think. But the Lan-wire to the PC is very long 20meters)
UT04 can simulate lags and/or speeds, but I think that only works for dedicated servers which aint working. (I'm so excited to see what happens when I get back home and enter those names of the Voicepacks in the ini file.....will the server work or not ) |

Yea, when i set it all up, youll end up with a alpha version of marswars.

Very soon, I'm planning to upload one next week.
I've wanted to do it since 2 weeks now, but I always find some things that have to be fixed first.
I had to make sure the smashable things work properly. It was a pain testing them again and again on LAN.
Instant action is one thing, joining server is a whole other one.
Stuff has to be replicated and thats very difficult when you dont know how it works -like I do
I also want to have all the item models done. Most of them were not modelled yet. But it shouldnt take too much time.
Should we add the invulnerable powerup to the mod? Even if we wanted, I have no idea how to get this to work. Maybe 3DBuzz forums can help. (or I just have to put a deeper look in it...it would help to have anything that works similar. Maybe the powernodes of ONS. or just teamdamage code..)
I was also playing around with a slowmotion powerup (RF2), but its hard, too. The sound won't pitch which is stupid. (but I love it when the game slows down..) |

Check the RPG mod, because theres a "Globe Of Invunerablilty" artifact in that, which makes you invunerable... |

Great tip. I dont have that mod though Is it big? I will download it later (when I have a flash memory here or something)

Sophie? *looks at marswars site* ... wow, ive been neglecting the mars wars page ... people actually posted something .
im thinking im going to try to finish up the tech today, and get the masako and hendrix voice packs done tomorrow ... then when i am finished i will post here or on the marswars site and send them to you. i don't know when i will get them done it depends on how motivated i am and if i get distracted. |

I uploaded it to the rf section. now just waiting for frank to add it to the site.

Okay, how much trouble would it be to remake the sky for SRO? im thinking of doing that one for practice, it looks fairly easy...
acually, come to think of it, could you just remake all the default RF skys, when you get time?
then, ill ask you for some custom ones later |

Hmm I just took a shot at it and it's quite tricky because they have that giant semi transparent moon in the sky and I don't know how I would do this and make it still look good because I tried making a big sphere and giving it a moon texture and making it semi transparent and that looked quite cheap. Then I tried importing the moon texture used in the sky and applying it to a 2d face and that looked quite cheap so then I tried making the moon in the sky giant and that looked cheap because it doesn't get as big as the one in the RF sky box and it makes the sky a night sky, (because you can either have a moon as the light source or a sun but not both or if there is a way to have both I don't know how), So I tried lighting up the sky using bright haze and stuff and that did make the sky look bright again but you could hardly see the moon. So I guess I'm going to have to ask Grim Reaper (The old L4Y Skybox guy) next time hes online how I would make the sky and have it look good. He is my Bryce go to guy. |

its okay if its a night sky... long as its the same sky, just darker
