REDFROG, any idea when youll get your internet?
Ill be gone for roughly 2 weeks starting on june 19th...
REDFROG, try replacing the mine layer with the remote charge, insted of the grenade launcher, use that for the grenades, it would work better because the mine layer, you dont need to hold down, and grenade launcher already bounces the grenades, so you wouldnt have to code that |

The problem with the remote charges is that there has to be a delay between the fire animation and the projectile launch.
I've been asking how to work on something like this on 3dbuzz but got no good answers.
Working with delays is very difficult, I don't know why epic made it that complicated.
I've wasted many hours to get it to work properly but failed again and again. Usually I wait with these things and work on others until I have enough knowledge in UnrealScript. Man I totally knew nothing about it. At the beginning I though we would find people who will help us with the scripting...the mod progress could have been much further that way.
The remote charge is basing on the grenade launcher in some parts. It would work perfectly without the need of a small delay.
I can't think of one weapon that uses delays when firing. |

I wasn't sure if you guys really needed the dedicated server fix.
If I'm not making too many changes on the files I wouldnt have to send you the whol stuff again. So for the dedicated server I have only changed the RFSystem.u file which is only 1MB or so.
I have also been working on a new MainMenu, I told you I'm not good at these things but images can always be changed.
It is very complicated to make a whole new look of every panel and page and I dont want to waste too many days on it.
I have no plans on the look of the main menu, you'll see that on the screenshot below I was just trying things, and it was not too hard to change at least the main menu.

All images are just temporarly. But if you like it, then its not 
The "MARS" logo on the top was planned to be a banner for homepages or something but in the end the gif file got way too big (it is animated, but not in the mainmenu)

yeah, well when you've got a thread 40 pgs long about something as good as mars wars ... its bound to attract attention .
so you've figured out how to tamper with the main menu, i figure goober will come here soon and volunteer to make a background (though the one there isn't bad , the only suggestion i would make is to move the character to the right side .) |

seriously though, ill do the images to not put as much work on your shoulders, although you probably have room after that dedicated server left your shoulders 
REDFROG, thats the beauty of it, i never thought we would get this far with no scripting/mapping/modding knowlage of UT2004 prior to this mod (around that time anyway, you started a bit before i did) and were a bunch of UT2k4 modding newbies, taking on a project this big, and its going to well! its great!
frank, whenever you host a server, ill be there if i can 
For the next beta release, ill probably have a map if not 2 there 
Ill start work on the main menu images ASAP, ill post some WIPs soon |

I can't remember which effects are used on these weapons. It seems like some graphic cards can't handle one of the emitter effects.

I don't think it's that it cant handle it but maybe it handles it differently then other cards? or maybe I'm missing a file? is there any files that were in previous updates but not included in this one? I have no idea...
So does this mean I'm not gonna be able to play the mod when it's finally released? That sucks 
[edit] yay 800th post pfft should be like 2700th post cuz I lost most of them when the site switched over. |

im sure that it will be fixed by the time the mod is released ... what kind of card do you have (out of curiousity) .
hey goob, if you do go and make a back ground, look at REDFROG's background and try to design around the menu , it will make it look good . |

hmm, mine is outdated compared to yours ... i have an Nvidia FX5700 and i can run it ...
I didn't really think it was a video card problem anyway ... It might have been if you had a older card or a different chip set ...
REDFROG says that the second beta should work without loading the first ... I honestly don't know what it could be .
Edit: ive been thinking about that intro movie ... theoretically i could make a movie using UED name it the same as the intro to regular UT2004 except i could place it in the MarsWars folder and it should read it or it will default to the other one right? |

well, we would have to include panic animations for the charaters if we did that, i don't think you can play a movie.
the problem is how do you make an intro movie if none of the characters have animations .
a Technochunk type intro wouldn't be bad though .
