yeah .
i can create taunts orders that stuff using the audio files from the .vpp. I already got excited about the idea and started on a merc one. I halfway finished it and tested it out ... it's pretty freakin sweet . you might want to ask goober if it ok to do it though ... its his mod, were just helping (aren't we? ) so far the bots laugh and curse at you with merc voices when they win.
all i need from you guys to do this is the 2d portraits of each character you make ... the rest i have.
all you would have to do is add the files to the final UTmod and put in the filename of each characters voice under the characters .upl Im willing to make the rest. 
Edit: oh and tell me which characters you already have modeled so i can make the voices for them. |

Why would we refuse things like that?! The mod should feel like Red Faction, character sounds are very useful.
Goober and me started the mod, so I think goober will accept you as a team member. We both are the project leaders, so I dont have to ask him I think |

Wow, ther is some really good stuff in the .vpp too ... im goin to also see if i can change the annoucer voice to be more like Red Faction too ... I have an idea of how to do it. |

Hm I have no idea...
I think you can use any size you want. I think 512 pixels should be the maximum. Oh well, I mean not bigger than the original UT2004 one should be ok.

If anyone has used the Taunter mod for RF that I made, those are all straight from the audio.vpp All the taunts, etc. |

nice work on the weapons... ect... ill begin adding weapons to maps.

Im done with 3 voicepacks ... , only ... 12 more to go (if i do every charater, im doing the main ones for now because i don't know how many you all plan on modeling.
oh and don't worry red frog, there are plenty of female voices. there are even female miner voices, which i don't even remember there being in the game. |

they did probably record like 50 people saying differnt things pack them into one vpp, use some and couldnt figure out what ones they didnt use, so kept them all there. |

Ok got a question for you guys ...
The program i use automatically adds a .int file that allows you to mix and match voices with other characters
so do you want me to leave the file? (which allows you to mix and match, for example have a hendrix character with parkers voice or other characters from UT with RF voices ... which seems less red factiony )
or do you want me to delete the .int? (so only hendrix can use hendrix's voice and will default to it once set up ... but none of the other characters can use hendrix's voice, including those in UT ) |

I'm not very familiar with this file format. I know that these files include the different language strings.
I've had problems with ini files on the mod, I have to move them to the UT2004/System folder, if I put them in the System folder of the mod, then UT2004 will not find them for some reason. (ut limitation or something)
If int files would work with mods then the original game will not use them.
I think its better to make them useable with the mod only since I don't want to have a mod that adds files to the game.
Goober, yeah I forgot to remove the default user files
Now I'm working on the railgun, I quickly noticed that the code will not be easy. The beam won't go through the wall, and the heatvision is also very hard to write. I asked the authors of the Ballistic mod for permission to use their code, but I can't get it to work. The code of the ballistic mod uses special weapon modes and the projectile looses power when going through walls, it will also only go through walls when the charge power is at maximum. All these things are not what I'm wanting.
I don't think I will ever get this to work because it requires tough code experiences.
Same goes to the ammo count left in the magazine. At the time, a charge bar is showing how much ammo is left which must be changed to numbers.

ok, so leave it out and then you (or I) will add the voice line to each charater it refers to.
ive also found out a way to do the announcer voice, problem is there are award voices in the game like flak monkey, daredevil, eagle eye etc. that i cannot fill in with RF sound because none apply to them, so the announcer will pretty much only say only say how much time is remaining, give a sound for flag captures and stolen flags ... pretty much like the regular RF. |
