Wow lots of maps you're working on. But thats great. Maps is one of the most important things in this project. I would create maps too but then there would be no time for the weapons. And those need alot of time to do.
The railgun is going to be a tricky part (have played a mutator with a railgun, but its not shooting through walls all the way. The railgun of the mutator even allows to see through walls...players appear red colored just like in RF. I'm not sure if this is easy to copy for the mod, though), so will be the baton, riot shield(do we need it? lol) and flamethrower. But I think the flamethrower should be dropped. I'm not sure. I've seen a mod with a weapon that acts like a flamethrower, I must take a look on it in netplay to find out if its useful.

Its more than 3 months until June, enough time...maybe alot more than we will need, I hope so.

At the moment noone is helping us on weapons. We need some people who model a few weapons such as the Fusion (complicated model), submachine gun, or Assault Rifle.
My next weapon will be the rocket launcher and the railgun(dont have to model it)
I would be happy if somebody could model a character (Riot Guard, The yellow enviro dude, elite guard, guard, nurse) of RedFaction...but its hard..

I hope to not have to drop any weapons... it just wouldnt be RF without being able to throw flame nades at camping noobs

I just thiought of something... if you put a fusion merc in a map, then export that, will you get the fusion model??

RED will only export geometry
And its not possible to convert boned meshes to brushes.

Anyway...doing stuff like that is just lazy and cheap.

What about a HUD?
RED-FROG i just had this great idea, but i dont know crap about programming... well you made RED Optimized....
I was thinking how about making a RF Mod UnrealED in REDs Format? its alot easyer to use

Yea... sorry about the tripple post... but i just wanted to say that, RED-FROG, how do you export statics from RED into max then unrealed?
And, in a few minutes im going to work on some very very early promo "Posters" if you will for the mod. These will have to be made and posted over multiple sites in the next little while to gain support and interest.

EDIT: Hows this look for the Ultor_Glass texture? Its a remake. i traced the original with the polygonal lasso tool, filled with white, then carved out a circle in the middle. Its not distorted like the old 64x128 one...

Gobber, you can export clutter objects by converting them to brushes first. (Choose the brush type "Mesh" for this and type in the original mesh name of the clutter. Open up clutter.tbl and search for the name.)

Then click on File - Export as VRML etc etc. Import the VRML file into 3DsMax...there ya go. All you have to do is texturing it.

To find out the used textures for the mesh open up the mesh file with the windows editor aka notepad (note: "context" editor doesn't work for this) and search for ".tga"

Sometimes imported meshes may have errors on some polygons so you'll have to fix em up.

A new HUD would be great, but that needs too much time and knowledge that has to b learned first. I'm not sure how the weapon selection will look like. I think RF has 16 weapons, the default selection set of UT2004 has only 10 slots. I could put the grenade and remote charge in the same slot and the main weapons such as HMG and Shotgun will have their own slots.
I'll try to find a good layout for this.
Handgun=1 SubMachineGun=2 and so on.

The glass texture looks good, I think the ultor star is a bit too small, though. You'll have to make a good alpha image for it, otherwise it won't look the same as glass.

Next weapon gonna b the sumachine pistol. Modelled it today, time to animate.
I'm not sure if I can find or create a script that adds a special mode to the submachine gun (the one from RFs singleplayer)
I've also been thinking of a silenced version. The two different fire modes doesn't really make sense since one is stronger than the other. Perhaps the secondary fire mode does as much as damage as the assault rifle.

I think that custcom (I mean real custom) maps can be also done for this mod, maybe classics of Red Faction or new work which would take some more time. I loved to snipe ppl on my Bedroom or Kitchen map in Red Faction, that change was very welcome because mostly all maps are very small.

It took me a while to figure out how to add a shell emitter to the guns but this also works now. yay. I'm not sure about the heat sensor on the rocket launcher.. I know that there is a way to attach a camera screen (texture) to it, and I know that its possible to get the players drawn as red shapes but I doubt that I can do this myself.
I'd have to borrow some code of the DA2 mod and the Ballistic mutator which isnt that easy. Often the code refers to other scripts, and those refer to even more scripts.
Still got no answer if some1 is willing to help us as a script coder.

Warlords! the map with the two facing bases. do i make teh original one like on the PS2 or th one on the PC with all the alternate paths??

Anyone know what happened to w.r.e.c.k.s.? Would be nice to have his MicroFaction levels converted to UT with the better textures and such. Those are like the coolest maps.
