i guess i could check ... i got it too, problem is i don't know how well it would match the rest of the mod.

Edit: i think there are enough voices in the origional RF just for the bare amount but not enough for awards, or special conditions.
i also looked at the RF2 folder and am not finding much sound files to use for an announcer or to signify events.

I got another tricky idea though ...

Ill be back making some new texture tomorrow, and REDFROG i might try to get some weapon skins done i dunno if it will be good but always worth a try

I think it would be good enough if there was just some more detail.
I mean, scratches or just overlayed detail textures at some places.

I never really thought that the weapons look that bad. Probably its because of the specular maps which hide the ugly textures under them I will get rid of them anyways. I will have to create specular maps for the weapon skins only. The hand and arms should look like plastic or something.

I have worked on the Precision Rifle, which is done and on the RailGun which is half done. I'm having trouble with the piercing wall behaviour. I doubt that I will ever be able to code this The heatvision is another problem. This would mean that the railgun wouldnt be able to shoot throught walls which sounds worthless The long reload times and the need to face your enemy might make the weapon very weak, and I want to have just everything in the mod that Red Faction also has, maybe just better
I have added a meele attack to the pistol, might be useful.

Today I've played the mod via LAN and noticed that the weapons werent working. I was able to fix it. I was shocked when I saw that.....but its all good now, I'm very very happy

muhahah, im sneaky ...

you know that problem i was having with the announcer not saying the things i want it to ... i went out on the web to find a program the can imitate voices and i found one called voice imitator 1.0, problem is their download site is down.

basically, i plan to run in a sample announcer voice and imitate its voice if it were to say things like flakmonkey, loser, etc. it should work but its only got a seven day trial ...

i just have to wait untill the site comes back up or i find a different program that will work or a place to get it from.

im almost ready to submit charater voices too ... who should i email them to? and do i need to explain how to set each charaters voice to the charater by default? or do you guys know how to do that?

Hm the characters default voice should be set up in the .upl file, right? But I never seen that it was done there though.
Or is the characters voice SPECIES specific?
I'll take a look on that.

I think voice packs don't include the hurt and death sounds, do they?

here is an example line of what it should look like under the .upl, this one is for a bender model i use that somebody made(im just using it as an example, i hope you don't mind if you see this):

the part in yellow is the part you change to match the package name. So if the package was named RF_Hendrix you would insert Voice=RF_Hendrix.RF_Hendrix

Oh i didn't see your last question ... yes they do, sort of ... you know the "im on your team idiot" quote the players always say when they get shot? i replaced it with hurt sounds from each person, so yeah, if you shoot at someone they will scream out in pain over the comm system. (edit: or i can clear the lines if you had already put in a system to do that. whatever you want ...)

each player has Orders, taunts, freindly fire warnings, acknowlegements, Etc. so each file is somewhat big .

ok nevermind they aren't as bad as i thought. I was looking at the wrong properties to a different thing . they are only about 1 Mb each ... so you add 1Mb to however many characters you guys are going to build and thats is roughly its size all together. What characters do you have modeled already so i can finish those voice packs first?

Oh and i didn't send them to you because i decided to compare all of them when im finished so as to make sure each voicepack is even in content with the others ...

Im thinking we might have to use the miner voice for parker ... he barely speaks.

BTW i couldn't find that voice program anywhere.

Thats ok then. I'm not wanting to increase the size by 50MB just for voice sounds

For now, I have only modelled Parker. I took the model of masako from the toolkit so I wouldnt have to model it.
Character modelling takes time, and I wanted to have the weapons finished at first.
The next characters I'm going to work on is the Riot Guard (he just looks cool) and after that the Heavy Merc or maybe the Tech.
Today I took some reference images of these guys, I found out a technique to screenshot them with a FOV of 2 which helps alot

But before I'm going to work on those characters I must finish the weapons (Riot Stick, Fusion and Grenade missing) and I'll work on the models of Drone(the first boss roboter) and Spike (small flying robots that shoot plasma balls).
These may be used in the Red Faction mod as special weapons. You can spawn them with weapons, but I'm still trying to create a proper AI controller script for them. (there is a mutator called StupidWeapons which uses such a weapon. I'll have to ask for permission if I was going to use his code.)
With the first fire mode you aquire a target which the robot will attack, with the second fire mode you spawn the robot, and it will attack your target until it's dead (like Invasion) Not sure if this would suit the Deathmatch or other default gametypes...maybe it will be a just for fun feature.

oh that would be cool ... i would contact the people who created the 2nd sentinel mod if i were you and you could... that would help you alot with the coding.

I might not get too much done for the next week because i am going to flordia for a senior class trip over spring break ... its going to be wild. But the weather is saying it is going to snow 15" to 20" sunday, the day we leave ... they might close the airport ... i coughed up over 500 dollars for this trip

Edit: do you wnat me to send an example? just to see if it is ok with you? because the RF_Guard i finished looks pretty good

What weapons do you have in the mod so far?

I'm looking for:

Anti-Personnel Weapon (Sticky grenades!!!)
Railgun (Self-explanitory)
Incendiary Grenades (IT BURNS!!!)
Satchels (Get it off, get it off, get it off, BOOM!)
Nano MPs (They're cool!)

Oh, and by the way, fighting Molav is a real pain, isn't it?

Anti-Peronnel weapon was NOT in RF....... Same for the Nano MPs....

This is suppose to look and feel like the original

However, the different grenade types, I can go with that

well, REDFROG was working on the rail ...

I dont know if he has done the remote charges yet ... but i bet they will be easier to code than the rail ...
