i don't know why having a house that sits on 3 rocks for a foundation with a crawl space full of king snakes is cool ... but i guess thats your opininon.

Im going to start looking in to making custom loading screens work ... i will have to ask REDFROG though if he wants new RF based screens or the old loading screen for this mod. Im split between the two.

BTW REDFROG, if you send the stuff back to my email address, you might want to give me a heads up in this forum ... i don't check my email often ...

Woah Assaultman67, those voicepacks are GREAT! They have pretty good quality and are very suitable for the mod! I never heard those sounds before (only the "Take off hoser" or something, which played at the beginning of NoClanFranks map)

The guard has some missing orders, usually when there is no sound it displays a text message at least. But when I go in the order menu the first orders are empty.

I havent seen which script tells the game about the loading screens, yet. I think its one of the gametype scripts. The same place where I could change the info messages when the map loads.

edit. I'm working on the DM10 level, Trench Warfare I think. I played MaxPayne2 the last weeks (because I just bought it) and saw how parts of the walls drop to the floor. Maybe I can create a better simulation for the fake geomod with the karma phyiscs than the destroyable clutter. (as seen in BlastedCanyon for UT04)
I mean I could build up a wall (or fill holes) with many (karma physicalized <- bad english I know) pierces, which then could be shot away. But I guess that its going to take too much performance (and bandwidth). I dont even know if karma works in multiplayer. Are the karma physics simulated in netplay? (I will test this..)
Its not good when the wall is there for one player, and its not there for the other player.

yeah, i figured there were still some things that needed to be worked on ... the hardest part is finding a voice suitable for the command.

ive went through the whole audio.vpp pack separating all the voices by character ... some are generic but some are also specialty voices (like for a certain part of a certain level) so yeah, i guess you probably havent heard some of them.

Edit: i think that is something i noticed right after you sent it now that i think of it .

Edit Again: i fixed the guard ... I changed all the commands back to the origional string ... (they will still play a RF wav if i have them filled out) So all the commands will work now ... Ill have to watch that i don't do that again.

well we are going to have to figure out a way that will limit the Red Faction mod to just the Red Faction loading screens and also not permanently alter their files they need to play UT2k4 normally ... any ideas?

Im starting to wonder if a custom hud is even possible ... i found tutorials for it in UT2K3
but i have found none for UT2K4, let alone mods that have custom HUDs in it ... you can change the color but thats just about it ... . Im still going to keep looking into it though, RF isn't RF unless it's got an RF like HUD.

Thats true. I'm a bad 2d graphics artist myself and never took a look at custom HUDs for UT yet. I finally got the clip counter to work for the hud. (counter that shows how much ammo is left in the magazine)

I would really like to see a new GUI and a new HUD which is RF themed (or at least copies of the old HUD directly from Red Faction)
I fear the old HUD of RF got too old, maybe I could do a pimped 3D HUD which looks familiar to the classic hud, but again I have no experience on doing HUDs or anything that is drawn. (I would model the HUD in 3dsmax and then render it because thats the only way I can do it. I've done this for the Lego mod hud lol)

Why do you want to leave goober? Have you worked on a map that needs to be finished? Maybe I could finish it for you then.
Did the alpha version blew away all the euphoria? lol The mod has changed and I've done big steps since that time. I know UnrealEd isnt easy to learn in such a short time but heck, I can't make so many maps on my own.

Custom HUDs are possible, why not (Eiko mod, FragOps, DA2, Atlantis..)
I don't know how much experience you've collected with UT2004 modding.
First you've got to set up a mod folder, in this mod folder theres a system folder which holds some other files such as ini files.
In those ini files you tell the game which MenuGUI to load. I have downloaded an example mod before I started with the mod. (it can be found on the UDN (all about unreal information) network, dont ask me for the url )

Now for the HUDs you would add the custom script name to the default properties of the gametype. Once I have changed the HUD to the classic UT2003 HUD (by accident I think).
The HUD scripts look very complex and the meaning of the code is hard to understand. I think its possible to do changes on the HUD while the game is running (by using: "editdefault class=" or maybe editactor.. )
A new HUD or menu is lower priority for me (now). I've got to do other things, but I'd be glad to have someone who could make a new HUD.

The railgun still doesn't pierce the walls, its a really tricky thing. But the thermal mode works which I'm happy about. It would make the mod so much better. I said "would", well I first need to ask for permission because I use parts of the Ballistic script to make it work. I can only hope and pray that the Ballistic authors set green light and let me use it. (edit. yay, they allow me to use it] I've been asking for the railgun beam texture and the shell casing system (I didnt like mine as much as theirs), I bet they will soon become fed up with all those requests. I'm working on a RF mod, not Ballistic lol (will post new pictures in a bit)
