You can steal pretty much any model from RF by loading the v3m as a mesh in RED then exporting it to 3D Studio... might be a bit messy but, it would be a quick way of getting them into UT.

Well, unless you think you or someone else can totally remodel the RF multi characters, then that would work out best <_<

I fear this will be another mod that never comes to fruition... If I start to see some progress then I'll be more than happy to attempt a map or two... I've made far too much stuff for mods that have never happened - it's been a complete waste of my time


One thing I will add.... There is not one of the default Red Faction Deathmatch maps that comes close to the size of a default UT2k4 Deathmatch map, in fact most are even smaller than the smallest UT 1v1 maps... So how's this going to affect mapping for this mod? Is the player going to be slowed down slightly to suit? Or should the maps be made on a much bigger scale? perhaps with added zones and access points.

IMO weapons need to have reloads for this mod to work. I also think the player speed should be slowed down (and double-jump removed) instead of just scaling up maps, if you want it more true to Red Faction, that is.

IMO the best thing about UT2k4 mapping, is that you can have statics, animations and meshes without running with a mod
and, MF, if the mod doesnt get finished (i hope it will) you could just release the maps alone...

YOu can't convert skeletal meshes from RF to 3dsmax. So we will have to make them from scratch. With the help of screesnhots and the textures this isnt going to b a problem.
Only the characters could take some time, I want them to look as close as possible or even better, but not worse than RF.

The movement speed should be lowered down, I think this makes it more tactically. At least the dodges and double jumps should b nuked. I'm not sure yet, we'll see.

I've spent hours on creating a simple mod base but failed, jeez.
Thats going to be very complicated I think. I want a menu that only allows you to choose the custom characters and maps, but I've got no idea how to do that with the ini files etc etc.
I think we will need some1 with experience. (then maybe he could be the project leader.)

Today I've been working on the handgun model and the animations. It's as good as done (no reload animation), I just want to know how or if I can make it reloadable .
Next weapon would be the Assault Rifle I think.
Goober model anything you want. It doesnt have to look pimped, just as good as RF. (1:1) Later we can optimize anything and make it look better.

I would be happier if I knew how to get this whole mod working. It's easy in RF....add some stuff to the vpps and put it in folders.

ive completed one RF level, working on a second....
im modeling some cluttars...
Warlord is modeling some cluttars and remaking RF textures in hi-res form...

And, i thought me and you could be the project leaders???

but.... i would like it if we could get Outlawskot... he is the best.

Best in what? Best in accepting reviews?

I want some1 with coding knowledge to b the mod leader.
I can't be often online, I know that is a problem, so we'd need some1 else. But not just some1 who can create maps or something.
The leader should b able to fuse the whole bunch of material together as one mod. I have some knowedgle now, but its not enough to create mutators or even mods.
We should create a blueprints or something (and a CDC workspace maybe you could do that goober (if you havent already), I have no idea how to do/manage that.)

I'll search on google for some help on mods and reloadable weapons. And for mods. Just anything that might help us.

This night is long, I'll keep on trying..

-I want a map menu that only allows to choose custom RF maps. And perhaps some default UT ones, but not gametypes like DOM, Mutant or Invasion.

but how would I do this..lol. I looked at that other mod, Defence Alliance2 or something, but its so huge.
