I'm septic too, it smell leaked stuff at start of the project experiment. They just want to keep control on promotion, to eventually give a better and more actual look of the game.

Perhaps, I don't know, the game informer used the internet as a Source for material and, let's just say, used these "concept" pictures that quite a few people (even possibly including the people at the magazine) thought had some merit.
Considering Magazines are printed a month in advance it would be pretty difficult to edit it like you could a website. |

I'm sure that if the screenshots are fake there'll be some sort of retraction in the next issue of the magazine. Honestly, I don't care about screenshots. Without good game play to back the visuals there's nothing to hold player's interest. RF3 is coming out sooner or later, I'd rather it be later with high quality production than sooner as a rush-job *cough* RF2 *cough*. |

If it doesn't bother you, then good for you.
I have already been happy with the images because I've been expecting worse by reading the name of it. 
There is still a slight chance that they are not fake. THQ just didn't want them released that early, and there is absolutely no official message on their homepage or forums about the happening..they are pretty much trying to bury down the whole thing. |

That one looks more fake than the other one's shown. The lighting on the character and the lighting in the background don't match well. In the background the light source is behind the character and to the right. On the character the lighting is coming from directly in front. I'm not saying its definitely a fake, just that its unlikely to be real. |

That was one of them. Assman is right, the character doesn't blend well into the background as you would expect. The scene itself acually looks alot like Unreal Engine 3, but the character looks to have alot lower polygon count than most UE3 characters. |

To me that looks like a concept art picture. Thats how they're often done, background seperate to the characters as they'd often be drawn seperately, x number of character mockups, x number of backdrop mockups to get a feel for things... then they'd just mash the two together where they could to get more of a feel and release a few of those to wet the public's appetite  |
