All I know is I don't like third person games so I won't be buying RF3 if that's all it offers.
Even if it has a map editor, it is just not that same as being able to walk around in one that you have created yourself and can see from a first person perpective. |

Third Person?!?!? were did that came from, And I would think that after a big flopping game like the punisher they should no better, besides from max payne 1 & 2 there well be no change for RF3 to become a succes if its going to be in third person. |

Really true, really annoying, too.
D2k is one of the guys that have a reason to say this. Look what we've pulled out from this game. We have pushed it much further than it would have been without us.
We ony L4Y have developed maps, mods, tools and even anti cheat versions - to beat the suckers who went the wrong way: developing the cheats.
It's been a long journey, it isn't even over yet. But did you hear anything from Volition or THQ? I didn't.
I've only noticed this Volition (2 guys?) vs L4Y game when I was without internet, but that was more or less no big deal.
Now THQ thinks they can build on the base of RF1s greatness, which the community is part of. But what they have actually done is rubbish. It is not so hard to tell that from the screenshots and facts, don't look at them with rose colored glasses, I don't see a RF title.
(I couldn't accept RFII neither. It's far off from RF...they could have called RFII to anything.)
If there was a concept art with some kind of Mine guard with a new suit (50yrs later) holding an evolved version of the Big Earl  (RL) I would truly indentify this game as a sequel of RF.
But a japanese hero looking guy wearing a pickaxe vs a solder aiming a MG on him a little...consolish arcade style.
Anyway, they better hurry with the release..since games from nowadays do look much better. And future games are going to torment the look of RF3. |

Ive just thought.
Red Faction: Guerilla. true its the 3rd RF game, but it might not be Red Faction 3.
This could be a spinoff, and they may go back to the FPS afterwards? Kinda like how its now GTA 4, despite there going:
GTA, GTA2, GTA3, GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas, GTA 4.
Despite them all being the same game they did those 2 in between 3/4 which makes me wonder... is this the True sequel to RF?  |

You can see the ULTOR and EDF tags on the textures. And pics titled with "abbadoned bunker" etc. , I predict you will play in the abbadoned facility of Ultor, but I can't make a sense of it |

MMM games are loving the cover system at the moment. I think it slows down gameplay online.
I hope this is as fast paced as Red faction was. |

To me that just sounds, well, weird!
Other than the 'plot' and the fact it's 3rd person, sounds like it might be ok as a stand alone game. As a sequel, it's like saying Farcry is a sequel to Tomb Raider - they both have you running around jungles fighting people and monsters after all!? That's what I've gotten from the info out there at the moment anyway.  |

Honestly, I consider the L4Y & Volition game to be an unparalled event. Volition was kind enough to fix the game tracker for us and more than two Volition employees showed up in the three servers we ran.  Frank and Trump can attest to this if necessary.
As far as Volition supporting anything else for the original RF is concerned - I don't think they have the resources. But, if anyone is so inclined: they are always hiring http://volition-inc.com/Jobs/. Sooooo, stop complaining and help them out.  |

I just read Game Informer's march issue which included a preview on Red Faction: Guerrilla and it sure looks promising. With initially mixed feelings of pessimism (remembering RF2) and excitement (finally some news after how many years?) going into the article, phrases like:
"We're going back to the roots of the franchise. We're going back to the setting and the feel of Red Faction one."
and
"We don't think that anyone has caught up to the Geo-Mod yet, but we decided to really blow that out,"
really cured me of my pessimistic attitude and instead substituted in curiosity in its place. I became reminded of Mass Effect on several occasions while flipping through the images and descriptions and, to me, that is a strictly positive thing.
As far as the introduction of 3rd person game play, I don't think its a bad thing. But being a huge fan of RF1 and having countless positive memories throughout the experience (even after what, 6 or 7 years?) I can understand how the L4Y community could be angry about this new development and think that Volition is, yet again, abandoning its roots.
For me I am open to a 3rd person experience of a re-invented RF world I still love and know. (especially at the scale they are talking about!) |

From what I've read, it seems this game is going to take place 50 years after the original. This means that it's not impossible for Parker to make a cameo appearance, just don't expect the old guy to be as fit as he was in the previous title. |

I agree, those were some of the sentences I was happy to hear, but they're vague to say the least so it looks like we're all just going to have to bite the bullet and get the demo as soon as it comes out. |
