In the video game Giants Citizen Kabuto, players could choose which perspective they wanted - first person or third.
I wouldn't mind picking up RF3 even if it was 3rd person perspective.
Now I just want to know: what are the minimum specs for this bad boy?
Edit: I forgot to mention. If you are playing the Kabuto, you could switch the perspective to your feet and watch as you stomp your undersized foes. Also, one could switch the perspective to the interior of the mouth and watch as you chew your foes into more easily digestable bits. lol

If the new Geo Technology kick CENSORED , is acceptable, I dont care much about graphics, ...but it must! Some concept sketch have great Level Design potential and hydrolic mine machine is in my style. If they choose to put multiplayer vehicles and maybe a kind of production building system, I hope they will have time and keep focus on destruction over anything else.
...The game will be nice, don't worry guy's ... |
I cannot predict better Wow, this game will be a masterpiece if they take the time to polish it right. Thanks wrecks for all awesome info in your magazine, even if parts need to be read with PhotoShop contrast meter Finally a real interaction gameplay!! Him already want to mod & maps this game!
Only 1 thing;

I always thought 3rd person games were more fun on consoles personally, and this game happens to be available on them.. So maybe my opinion of "RF is only best on PC" is finally dieing.. But I think the game can look better on PC potentially... Although the Xbox360 version I can see being the least best looking.. |

Quoting wrecks | Great article in game informer. It is a 3rd person, open world sandbox game. Takes place 50 years after RF1. "We're going back to the roots of the franchise. We're going back to the setting and feel of Red Faction one." |
I would really prefer First Person view but at this point, I'll take anything. I did like playing Max Payne and for most of the game I did play it in Third Person.
The pics look good though. |

My thoughts: at the very least, multiplayer has been confirmed.

Alright multi for PC! I just hope the MP maps aren't for something like 30 or more people, because otherwise this could be an amazing third person shooter....
By the way, did anybody notice this?? Quoting Article | ...just as a building will blow apart like it does in real life, it will also have to stand up like it would in real life. "Very early on in the project, it was routine for an artist to say, 'I made this building and then I put it in the game and it fell apart.' [....] "They all started collapsing because of the weight. We just weren't building them correctly. Our artist had to learn a little bit about architectural structure, building models like a building should be built" |
I dunno if it's like that in other games, but it sounds like making maps is going to get alot more complicated for this community. |

If physics is going to be calculated for the geometry (assuming these 'buildings' were made from geometry and not meshes) then this game is going to require some extensive processor power. I'm up to the challenge of next-gen geomod map design, sounds like fun. |

Not exactly a secret after its most recent financial conference call, THQ today (feb 20th) officially announced the development of Red Faction: Guerilla.
The third game in the series will be a third-person open-world one, a departure from the first person perspective used in the first two games. Set fifty years after the events of the first Red Faction, Guerilla has you playing as an insurgent fighting against the oppressive Earth Defense Force, destroying everything in your path as you make your way across Mars.
"Red Faction: Guerrilla expands the signature destruction elements of the series and pushes the boundaries of next-gen gaming on a massive, terra-formed Mars where gamers can literally tear down the enemy EDF presence brick by brick," said Mike Kulas, president of Volition, Inc. "With a new 3rd person perspective, a full cover system that allows for guerrilla style tactics and a diverse planet to explore we're excited to revitalize the gripping world of Red Faction for high-definition platforms."
Red Faction: Guerilla will ship for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 during THQ's fiscal year 2009, which runs from April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009.

Well ... this all sounds great but the whole "third person" thing has started to sink in and I don't think I like the idea at all.
Plus, the realistic physics might be fun in some ways, but hopefully you can turn it off or adjust it. Think of how many maps in RF1 depend on a lack of realistic physics.... not that you'll be able to play that kind of game in third person anyway.... or not in the same way.
I think I'm falling into depression. |

If they make it anything like the third person view in "Hellgate: London", it might not be to bad |

This is beginning to sound like Gears of War with geomod. I can't say I don't like that idea. |

Well, I'm going to assume they won't make a bad mistake and end up putting in third-person multi-player...
A switch between third-person and first-person would be very cool, but Multiplayer should be always forced to first-person. |
