probably ... but it feels wrong to add them alot different than they are in the game ...

i thought we would just make the driller have an huge armor # ...

you have more than 3/4 vehicles... everyone gets one and theres no point walking... rf was good because of the high speed "non-vehicle" combat.

A few vehicles will add flavour... too many will ruin the effect you are trying to achieve. Strike a balance.

I stil think it would of been cool to have aesir battles in TAOW (REDFROG, TAOW still needs aesirs ) or some jeeps in blasted canyon... granted it would need to be bigger...
the dream of having a big canyon in RF in which you could drive jeeps or APCs or fly Aesirs to the other CTF base with online players is the dream of everyone whos ever played RF multiplayer.

There should be the default maps as close to th real thing as possible if a vehicle fits in the map then find but soon as you change the map to fit the vehicle its not the map any more.

I would rather see all the default maps first and then maybe some custom versions maybe like Rail maps in standard rf.

Hmm I think all the levels need more weapons. When I'm playing with 16 bots I find I'm always using the pistol because all the other weapons get taken..

I agree with you as well, the levels need more weapons..Actually what they really need is more ammo spread out or near the weapons. Since most server are ran with weapons stay, once you run out of ammo, that's it...It's pistol time.

Did I mention that they also need link guns too, with ammo.

yes i think you did ... you even gave the reason that it helps the enviroment to recycle ... either that or im a psychic ...

i admit ... it would be handy ... but i think it should be a toolkit and not a weapon ... so you can use it on vehicles but not on people ... not because i hate it but because its kind of a stretch off of RF as is ... parker doesn't recycle .

I also say that we make the sub into a figher by turning its thrusters into guns and putting 2 propellers on top like the old aesir...

Of course after that, well still need more vehicles, perhaps then we can go to RF2s vehicles?

NoClanFrank, I don't understand why dedicated servers are still not working for you
But when I looked at your log file, I found something strange with it
"Init: Command line: MWVCTF-Canyon?BonusVehicles=false?Game=RFSystem.RFVehicleCTFGame?Mutator=MapMixer.MapMixer?RedTeam=XGame.TeamRedConfigured?BlueTeam=XGame.TeamBlueConfigured -server -log=server.log"
If you havent removed the MW folder before you installed the newer version, delete MarsWars.ini and MarsWarsDef.ini from your MarsWars/System folder and it may fix up some things such as Menu controllers and server packages (see why on next page)
First, I don't know the mutator mapmixer. And what is that RedTeam- and blueteam=xGame... for? This shouldnt be there.
The -mod= parameter is missing. The game can't find the map or any packages without it.
(Warning: Failed to load 'MWVCTF-Canyon': Can't find file 'MWVCTF-Canyon'
Warning: Failed to load 'Level None.MyLevel': Can't find file 'MWVCTF-Canyon')
(thats what I had to fix in the ingame menu)

Have you tryed it with the batch file, located in the MarsWars folder?
The mapmixer seems to be uncompatible with mods, same with the team stuff.

That's right. The camera spawns at the player start. I should be able to fix it. (by making a cutscene of it, like the credits level (which also needs to be done))

I have seen this a couple of times, too. I have changed Parkers skin back to a non-shiny skin. (performance reason..but its not been tested) I think I forgot to rename a texture or something.

Hm, never noticed that bug. Assaultman67 made the voice packs, maybe he knows why. I'll take a look at it.

now thats strange I'm not happy that default voices of UT04 are available to the players. I hope I can find a way to remove them from the options. But I have no idea why Parker would use masakos sounds and NAME. Probably a SPECIES error. Characters now have their own specii (whats the plural of "species" in english?)
with own hurt sounds and preset voices.

In the later versions "weapons stay" was "on" by default. Now its off. (I prefer it to have it off because its avoids a dumb gameplay)
But if there are many players, of course weapons stay should be ON.
VCTF maps use weapon lockers (they should look different..) which is even better.

The bug with the smashable actors has been fixed I've done changes on some scripts a few minutes before I packed everything. I forgot about the collision function for the walls.
In previous versions bots always ran to the walls because they didnt know if the wall was destroyed or not. But in this version there is a new pathnode, specially made to tell bots the wall is broken or not.
(of course you cant see if its working or not because the smashable actor has a collision bug)

NoClanFrank, on you screenshot, you said the character stays behind for a while. Do you mean, no rag-doll physics is applied to the character?
There are no (oldschool) death animations for the characters,yet. If the game can't find a ragdoll model for the chracter, the character will play a death animation. If there is none, the character will "freeze" with its last animation. And I think it happened on the screenshot. Was it a dedicated game? (a copy of the log file would help a lot)
Did it happen because one of you set the Physics Detail to low? (I never tested it.) Or it may only happen on slow machines.
I'll have to add death animations to avoid this, I think.

I may upload a bunch of fixed files the next time instead of the whole thing. (music files and some other big things haven't changed)
It seems like there are still many things to fix. Well most of them are very quick to do. But we still need the portraits, a start logo. And perhaps a logo for the installer.

I could upload a "patch" in a hour or so, but I'm not sure if its important.
I've done many small fixes on the mod again. With a new "blood system" and other things I can't remember now.
The mod now is much better with hurt sounds of Red Faction (from Assaultman67's voice packs) They have no death sounds, though. (I don't notice it while playing. At first it was hard to play the mod without the "YOU'VE KILLED XXX" ..but I dont miss it anymore.

You've seen the death messages in the console. Do you think that I should simplify them? They are currently like that:
"Papa was killed by Mama with a Shotgun"
I could change it to the classic
"Papa was killed by Mama"
or
"Mama killed Papa"
..just to clean out the screen of all this stuff. (I think the last one looks pretty good. Is that the one of Red Faction?)
I planned to have it the "Counter Strike-death message stlye" but its too tricky

I'm not sure if its a good idea to have the Aesir in TAOW, because there is not much space to fly. I'll have to set the invisible ceiling very low because you'd be able to see the whole map at high positions..and there are no roofs. But I'll try it. (altough creating Flying pathnodes would take me forver) UnrealEd needs a link tool or shortcut to link objects. As in other editors..
