well ... I think the plan will be to release it and then fix it for MACs via a patch or a different downloadable version ...

So we will probably finish up the mod, release it, then focus on what we can do to get the MAC community in on the action .

so if i were you i would keep an eye on this forum because after we release it to PC ... we will probably need your help then to get it work for macs ...

RedFrog has yet to see this topic about making MW mac playable ... so we will have to see what he thinks as well ...

Ive got to get that last package made and emailed ...

RED-FROG, we are getting another beta for the team to finilize the mod, then releasing a public Beta right? For the public versions, i can make an installer insted of just a zip file.

EDIT: Installer is made, i just need the acuall files to install

I'm happy to see this thread isn't "that dead" anymore And its cool that DVL_IAC is working on (better) trailers. But a trailer of the newest version would be so much better. (perhaps you can do this when you get the newest test version if you want)
Yes goober, I'll upload another test version for us (today..I mean on the 11th, I hope)

Usually mods are being installed through the "umod installer" (that comes with the game). I have tested that today and it worked. So maybe there is no help needed in that, but thanks for the offer.
(However, if the installer that you are working with would look better we could use it instead of the umod installer.)

About the MAC "problem": in the umod installer wizard (download here on l4y) there is an option to create a MAC compatible installer as well. (which also creates the shortcuts for MAC pcs)
I don't know if the code has to be different or optimized for MAC computers. Do MAC users have different extensions on their map, texture or static mesh files? Maybe its just a different umod installer that MAC users need. (or a non-umod: (zip) file)
But as you guys said, I don't think I'll have the time to fix things for the mac users in the code.

It's not only me who works on this mod. Without the team I wouldnt have gone that far because things kill me when I get no feedback and not even a little help. And most important they've done the publicity for me.

So, I'll add all the files to an umod file (or is it called unmod?) and upload it as a test version. It will include almost everything, though.
I have written a Readme for the mod some days ago and also needs to be checked and corrected by the team.
I think the mod will have no intro level then, but the menu already is an level in the background. (we can always make an intro later..)
And I'd say the first public release will be version 1.00. It no more feels/looks like a beta version now. Of course the content (playermodels, maps, menu) can and will be extended in further versions. BETAs just look like they're not done and not fully playable yet. Mars Wars is playable with bots and LAN/Internet.

When will UT2007 be released? I doubt that more than 50percent of the ut04 players will quickly switch to 07 because of the hardware requirements. (it may take me 2 or even 3 years until I get that game! )

I hope you can finish that canyon map you've mentioned, goober!
D2kIt would be very helpful to have you here on the team, however its a little too late now But we still need maps. New ones, or re-makes.
Sniper City may be a good idea. (I dont have that map in rf)
Or just some other VCTF map with terrain (montains, rocks.. etc)..something that plays good with vehicles.

I hope sobe will be done with the portrais soon (there will be 2 more to make.. enviroment suit-grey colored (just to push the characters count) and a new model.. the MercGrunt)

whooo! ... now we have a model for that voicepack i sent you ... ( did i send it to you, or was that a dream ... )

i am debating about what to do for the masako model for the Voicepack ... she doesn't say much ...

as for hendrix ... he's done. Ill send it to ya because I have nothing else to do right now .

i always have flash memory ... i put a 512 mb stick on my keychain ... its getting a little worn though. I don't think it was designed to handle such wear and tear ... they should make metal ones ...

It should be bug free. But of course there may remain small bugs, mostly in internet play. Bug as in errors in the code.
There should no longer be "bugs" like wrong meshes or halfly done things. It was just a matter of time to get rid from many of these small problems that you guys have mentioned before.

I would appreciate any help in "deep testing" (most important internet play). Not just playing a match and looking over things. (I'm NOT saying that you guys done it that way... I just want to remember it.)
The last weeks I've tested many times and wrote the bad things on paper as I played and fixed them afterwards.
For the last test version you should not hesitate to mention your found bugs because they will only make the mod better..

sometimes I wrote a word wrong in the code, but I didnt see it. Tryed to compile it and got an error. I didn't know why.. I thought everything was right. I read it over and over again but could not find the problem until I copied and pasted it from somewhere else. (a texture name for example)
And finally it worked. It was often just a missing letter or one too much. This is one of the reasons why we need so many testers. One guy will spot something that others don't. Sometimes you don't just see your own errors

the canyon map is nearly done already REDFROG
one question, does this version have MWONS? i do think that a cool addon would be MWINV with all the RF mutants and creatures and robots being the monsters

Having a server by a clan sounds great, lets not disappoint them, people tend to leave a mod if it doesnt have any new addons within a couple of weeks
We, of course, already have frank dedicated to running a MW server
REDFROG, when will you have internet again? id hate to have everyone else having fun on a mod that you put so much work into and you be stuck at home playing with bots...

ill take care of that map with terraina nd rocks just for vehicles
Vehicles is one thing we need to get alot more of... one of the main attractions of MW is having vehicles in RF multi... we need more than 3

I'll be moving this weekend into the new/old place. I've talk to Comcast about switching my cable to the new/old place. I will be switching to "their" Internet service as well, currently I am with Verizon's DSL. They are schedule to install this on Friday morning and hopefully I will be fully moved in by Sunday PST( -8 GMT ). Other players ping were always better when I was with Cable Internet(including myself ). Hopefully that will be the case again. I can definitely run a dedicated server with the mod once it is finished. I've played the betas and they are fun. It's like a new and improved Red Faction at a faster speed. The speeds that I will have will be at or near 768/8000.
