When I eventually make this new trailer. Do you want it short like the one on the site with little game play footage that only covers a map or 2? Or long like the full length one that has lots of game play footage, covers every map and has a weapon testing session at the end?

Its still not completely the SAME feeling as Red Faction but I think thats just because UT works different..(better )
But I always say to myself "well its Mars Wars and not Red Faction anyway" (in german lol!)
The jumping is faster, mouse view is somewhat smoother and easier.
I think the mod is doing big steps with each new test version. I'm sorry that you had to play with the old one for such a long time.

I plan to have new powercores and pathnodes in MWONS. Pathnodes as generators and powercores as.. I dunno. MWONS is just not possible to create in such a small time. Also, there is no "healing" gun in the mod yet. (There is a model in the package, though. but it was just a test.) MWINV would require a lot of new models and codes which takes time to make. I wanted to have the "basics" (and VCTF) for the mod done first. MWONS would need even more maps.

How about like 1:30 of Canyon, 1 min of each CTF map, and like 30 seconds of each DM map, then like a minute or 2 of online footage
That is, with the bigging and end from the one thats over on the marswars site (the one with the short-er biggining )

Thanks to Genxer, im now a UT2004 staff member, ive already made a new Category called "The MarsWars Modification" and ill be handeling all MarsWars related files at this site. Duke can do all the Regular UT2004 files... but, duke, if you need help, and i have time, just ask man

This staff position will also be good in the sence that, when the mod is released/addons are released... they will be able to be posted almost immediatly rather than waiting for a usual update
Also, if any MW FIles are in the downloads section waiting, just inform me, here or by PM, and ill add them as soon as i see it!

EDIT:
More maps = more fans!

MWINV would be very fun and worth the time and preasure put into it, but it would take a few months to get done most likley, and we wont be spending all our time on MWINV. I say, after the release, get a few new maps out within a few weeks just to "tease" the audience, then release MWONS within like 3 weeks, that way we will keep all the fans "in" then releases like mutators, maps, other stuff, will keep them occupied, in tune, and entertainted, then BANG, in a few months, MWINV gives them even more things to do... This plan oughta keep alot of fans that would have left if all this stuff was in one release. Also, it will gain more fans.

To all our existing fans, team members, and testers, Get out! Spread the word about MarsWars whereever you can! We need alot of publicity, and this is the critical moment for it. If we get fans a week or 2 before the release, they will love the mod, get us more fans, and stay with us due to the plan stated above.
I think this will work out well!

But, frog, we still have the problem of you not having internet. I would really feel horrible if we were all playing together on someone you put so much time and effort into and you sitting at home playing with bots, although not having internet seems to get you to get more done

whoa! i d/l the mod and start playing it ... then i come back and find about a page of stuff!

i didn't read it i just wanted to say that the flag mesh on your hud looks weird when you look up or down ...

also the weapons need a bit more work ... they just don't feel the same

Edit: just read it ... oh and goob ... lay off the " " ... im starting to think you're up to something

If you guys plan on testing tonight i might be there and i might not ... depends

i might be gone for the next 24 hours ...

Not a problem. Noone has to feel horrible just because I can't play it online myself. Hell, I haven't even played the whole game online. (I know I'm stupid..buying an online game which can't be played online LOL .. bots are cool)
I knew it from the first time that I will not be able to play it online when its out. (same with Eko1.0 ..but this one was much harder to test in LAN games, without bots, without windowed mode.... soo..I dropped it )

The flag mesh is hard to fix. Perhaps I can find help on 3dbuzz.
I had it working once, but that was before it was twisting (i had to figure that out as well). Now its twisting and not rotating along the view but in Z-axis But I didn't think the problem was that big.
Weapons need a bit more work..? Work as in animations, damage or..?
(if you guys think the damage is too high or low on some weapons just tell me because everything was done by my feelings.. I havent played RF for years online.

Okay, the download link is up inn the beta testing forum on the marswars site

I feel that the sniper should have alot more power, and the HMG should not have so much. All the bots grab the HMG then because its a bit overpowered, the bots are too strong... Just decrease it a little... maby half of its current power
the sniper should be 1 shot kill... if hit in the head or torso, any where else, 2 shot kill

The Sniper Rifle does a normal damage of 60 (I think)
When you have full health and suit it shouldnt kill you with one shot. (not even with two I think) Maybe the re-fire rate is too high.
The HMG is powerful yes. But thats the reason why its the best MG in MW I'll set the damage 2 or 3 points less.
(headshots usually multiply the damage by 1.5)

(I'm still not gone downloading a better video..the 35MB one)

i think we should just leave it as close to the regular RF weapons as possible ... which is the problem

on the HMG the secondary firerate is accurate, which is good but the firerate needs to be slowed down so people don't just use the secondary fire all the time ... the primary i would just leave as is.

the assault rifle 3 round burst doesn't work the same as it does in RF. In RF i can hold down on the button and it will shoot 3 rounds pause then shoot 3 more rounds untill i let go of the mouse or i run out of ammo. In MW it just shoots 3 rounds and thats it (maybe this is hard to fix ...) the secondary needs to be a little more accurate (i dunno, maybe its just me being frusterated that my favorite weapon in RF isn't my favorite weapon in MW ...)

the rocket launcher i think needs to be slightly faster because i shouldnt be able to outrun a rocket in a vehicle ...

the submachine gun does faster than in RF ... but i like it that way so it can stay like that

there are other details ... but im not sure if they are worth pursuing ... like loading screens, scope skins, etc.

Goob, what time do you plan on setting up the server?

REDFROG, another bug, the secondary and primary fire on the assault rifle should be switched, in RF, secondary is automatic and primary is semi... in MW, the automatic is primary... can this be switched?

The secondary fire is as slow as the one in RF (I THINK)
I have often used the same refire rates as in RF. RF uses looped fire sounds, sounds that not match the REAL fire rate of the gun. In MW each shot plays a sound, and is not looped. (thats why I think it may sound too fast) But I can slow it down a little.

The assault rifle burst mode is just a nice addition to the weapon
Seriously..I think the code in UT2004 doesn't allow a burst mode as in RF but I could be wrong. (I have never seen it in other mods)
I'll try to find a better solution.
Rocket projectile will be faster. (I sometimes had the same feeling, especially with the fusion...maybe I'll make it faster too.)

The SubMG now shoots much slower than before.. I also like it. But I'm not sure IF the silencer is a good idea. I've got some negative feedback on this. (with the silencer I tryed to create "not just another" machine gun which now makes more sense since enemies can't hear you.)

Tell me about the "other things" Whats wrong with the scope skins? (one of the bad things I know of is when you are in zoom mode, and you get damaged, the on screen (hud) damage indicator sprite messes up the zoom texture for a few seconds. (alpha channel problems)

@Goober: Ops, I didn't know about that. I'll switch it.

i was wondering if he did that on purpose because the secondary on the assault rifle is used more than the primary ... but it would be nice to have that back to normal too ...

if we set up a server i would like to do it this weekend ...

but thats a while away ...

im trying to get things wrapped up in RFU5 and this MarsWars mod so i can ditch L4Y ...
