hmm ... i don't know of anybody with a mac and the mac version of UT2004 that we could test it on ... i would imagine that it depends if the way the game is executed is different for a mac than PC ...

I doubt it would work for a mac ... i don't think the system files are written the same in the mac version, mainly how it boots up ... though it probably could read the maps, textures, sounds, meshes, and animation files ... i dont think it could read how to boot up

If i had the mac version of UT2004 i could tell you ...

also i am not an expert in the differences of the MACs and PCs ... ask hapa (lol)

I honestly think the dual weilding thing is up to Redfrog ... i wouldn't be the one coding it ...

Ok, i thought about it. I wanna help out with the mod.

Here is my main abilities:

1. Mapping - ive got decent skill with UED and i can operate the majority of the functions.

2. Modeling - I can make some 3d models, but without concept art or a refrence dont count on anything amazing.

3. 3d Animation - I do this for fun and im getting pretty good at it.

4. Bug finding - One of the best youll ever find.

5. Music - Nothing orchesteral unless you wanna give me 500 USD for a quality orchestral set. which are rare and usually expensive... On the other hand i make electronica as a hobby and im good at it.

I have a cool idea for a trailer video, (well at least it seams like it would be cool in my head ) that involves Bryce, Fraps and some heavy video editing. I'll work on it once the new update is released so it has fresh content in it, and if it turns out good I'll upload it and if it doesn't then forget I even said this.


Well I finally did decide to do the trailer and it turned out ok, not as cool as I pictured though. So here's the trailer. its about 14 min long and has about 1-3 min of game play footage of every map in the mod so far. Although the video is gonna be outdated as soon as Red Frog releases another update. Anyway the in game footage was taken with every graphics option in ut04 on and at its highest setting and the game was played with 16 bots, in 1280x960 res with fraps recording at "half size" at 30FPS so the video sizes are 640x480.

*note* if you download the 2060,1500, or 1000kb/s version your going to have to add .rar to the end of the file name because for some reason file front took it off...*

the only problem is that 14 min is really long ...

that beginning part would be awesome for introducing mars wars ...

... after watching the credits ... i feel useless ... lol!

lol ya. Video files can get quite big when there long and pretty high quality.

DUDE! I love it! The only thing is, the gameplay footage is a bit long. I say we take out all but, say the Blasted Canyon footage (or whichever REDFROG is most proud of (levels)) then put the footage of the weapon testing, then go to the end... I love the start, it really sets up the mod awesomely (that a word? ) and the end is a really nice touch. I say do that, then can you email me it, ill get it "around" to anyone who wanted to see it.

Also, i was thinking about doing a small teaser where theres little footage clips (7 sec max.) and they just keep pulsing to black then at the end some really heavy music cuts in and "MarsWars: An Unreal Tournament 2004 Modification" "Comming Soon!" Explodes and then "www.marswars.net.tc" appears out of the ashes... IAC, think you could do that?

yeah the intro is great ... the mod itself pales in comparison ...

the size needs to be toned down though ... i would take out alot of clips ...

I could do that, we would just have to wait for red frog to pop in to see what his favourite map is.

That might be tricky to get the explosion to look good and have everything go to ashes. I could give it a shot some time or another, but I'm not in the mood to do it right now.

are we planning to release the mod here soon? ... it seems that everytime somebody talks about it there are more requests or maps that have to be done ...

I would like to release it a couple moths before UT2007 so the mod doesn't get ecliped by the new game ... no one will really want to play MW when UT2007 comes out ... they all will be playing UT2007 ...

And back to the pressing matter of MAC compatability. This user would be willing to test the MOD on his MAC version of the game, which I think would be best overall if it worked for both Windows and MAC versions.

Yes, as long as he understands that we cant spend alot of time making it compatible for MAC. If its not already compatible for MAC, the release probably wont be MAC compatible, if its developed, it will probably be released as a patch.
