There are a couple of issues here that I hope clear the air:
1) We can't talk about un-announced projects. You will find that is true of any game company. We just can't, period.
2) as for releasing the source -- that is not something that we've talked about and quite frankly, I'm not sure that we'd want to do that yet. There are many issues from the business end that we'd have to consider.
I guess you all should know that we do think about all of these issues from time to time. However, there is more to a decision about a new game or releasing the source than "yes, we are going to do it". We must carefully consider all aspects.
I'm sure that this answer didn't help much, but I guess the long story short is that we do continually talk about think about these issues inside of Volition. I guess that's all I can say. |

It's hard to believe that someone from volition has stepped forward who cares about what is left of the Red Faction community. I had my doubts but the RF tracker is back up and you are true to your word. 
We have had our share of "volition employee imposters" to deal with. Can't really tell who we can trust anymore. Also, just out of curiousity, does the rest of Volition or THQ know that this website even exsists... Or even care about keeping us as paying customers for their furture game releases. (im hinting about a patch  )
Red faction was the all time top shooter for me, no game will ever live up to the umph* that that game has delivered (well to me anaways). and RED was by far the easiest and most powerful level editor i have ever worked with (why do more game companys insist on developing bulky hard to work with level editors? what a pain.  )
Anaways, thanks a bunch for coming here and helping out with tracker problem. Volition employees presence in these forums is like a 'god setting foot in our part of town.'  |

Low end conection yes, but a game for low end computers not so much. lol UT 2004 has a much higher frame rate then RF. I cant stand playin RF on my bro's compy with radion 9200SE, it to slow  |

With the RF GT up and running many computer unsavy players can jump back in. Furthermore, those players who were disgruntled enough to leave RF may start trickling in again.

The tracker is really running again? Thought I'll never get the honor to play this game online anymore. (if I get my internet back some day..)

I personally dont think that the game tracler is all that important with all the community based solutions ... but on the other hand this shows just how dedicated the community is and how we would love to still see support for the game. Just you taking the time to sign up here has shown us that there is still some support ... and coming back to answer posts has increased this belief.

One must be able to forsee what I'd say next, although one couldn't be so worthy with such nooby beginnings (I apologize for wasting everyone's time, however I just wanted to quickly push that insane idea out of my head before I actually started to believe it. Again Goober NO WAY!
If you think it like this it is very clever of Volition to not release the code
They release the code.Some new game developer grabs the code , rename it, tweak it and made their own game with Geo-Mod and with updated graphics then they will reap in profits[Lots of them maby] since not many people no that RF even exists and they will not no that the game is a total rip-off.Furthermore Volition and THQ might lose a lot of money if this ever happens.ANd if they bring the case to court and they lose the case they might lose even more money and bankrupting Volition. |

LOL pred i doubt the release of 5 year old game's source would cause them to go bankrupt ... especially with a backing from THQ (financially) and even if it was released the games that get made from it would be greatly outdated and wouldnt really make that much money if they chose to sell it at all.
I believe the RF community only wants it to make veihcles usable in multi and fix a few other miner(hehe) bugs |

Pred... you are delirious. Goober hasnt said anything since his last post a page back. Then finally when we get Allender's word that they probably wont release it you come in and treat goober like hes been nagging still. Like you care about volition taking risks anaways?
personally i want them to take that risk and release the damn code already.
This situiation is sorta like you and your friends sneaking into the kitchen for cookies and then mom comes in the room and catches your friend or brother then you noticing her presence then turning around and saying to your friends "YEA DONT TOUCH THOSE COOKIES! WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THOSE!? THEY AERNT FOR US!"

Do you play RF online?
Have you tried any Custom maps, or mods from this website?
some of them are out of this world... you should try WRECKS maps, or maybe if you have some spare time download an RFU project (number 2 is my favourite) |
