From the screenshots and reviews there's no evidence to support the theory that RFG is just "GTA on Mars". I think we're all getting a little ahead of ourselves here. Let's just wait to find out more about the game instead of making wild assumptions. We don't have much solid information to go on at this point anyways.

From what Volition says there will be different multiplayers modes, and those playing on PC will be able to play against Xbox 360 players.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

If thats the case, if it is customisable then will they be releasing the editor as a standalone? I may prefer to get this on Xbox 360, maybe if we can get custom content like they have done with the UT3 PS3 versions.
Trying to find old players. Anyone about? Drop me a PM or reply to this thread:

I hope there is an option to disallow console players to join your server. I personally don't want any players in my servers that are aiming with the help of autoaim
Oh yea, multiplayer should be forced to First-Person, or at the very least... a serverside option to disable third-person for clients.

Oh yea, and Beatonator: Epic is running into some problems with Microsoft about porting UT3 mods to the 360 version when it comes out.

Yeah I have realised. the way the PS3 version does them is via a PC download them transfer via USB memory stick.

Doubt that will work with Xbox 360. However, actually if they can somehow "tag" them as a UT3 download that would actually be simple!

The Xbox360 doesnt display the file structure, it displays each game and the downloads.
If you can "tag" the UT3 maps and mods as a "UT3 download" it would then transfer straight to the UT3 game section, which is where they should end up. That would be easy.

Other option is having a user created space on XboxLive for UT3 and any other upcoming games, would need to be checked and such. Best option would be to use the method Halo 3 Uses for Forge maps. Each player has "webspace for 6 maps" then can download other players from their webspace to their Hard Drive. simple yet effective.

In the middle of the battle, I realized I had picked up an ally, and one of the aspects of the game is that you can inspire fellow Martians to take up weapons and battle the EDF.
That sounds pretty cool.

Great, with all this console talk I sense another game UI butchered, stripped, and dumbed down for console players. That seems to be the biggest fad for developers ever since the 360. It must be really fun to butcher and bastardize a useful and intricate UI. Also knowing it is going to have console releases360 and PS3 you can probably kiss modding and level editing goodbye too.

Yeah and from what I see they are gonna stick with the 3th person view, which is a bad thing!

From another interview, this time with Red Faction: Guerrilla's Associate Producer Jeff Carroll.

A few lines from it:

"We have a large game, we're looking at thirty hours of gameplay"

"We'll have the standard modes like Deathmatch and Capture the Flag, which destruction adds a dramatic difference to, since the level changes as it goes on."

"Yeah, we've been testing multiplayer for easily over a year now, with full on sixteen players"

"Certainly for the multiplayer campaign, we'll have additional modes, and additional maps being downloaded."

Hopefully Volition will follow in Epic's footsteps and not only allow custom content for the consoles, but also convert popular user-made maps into official releases.

That's not very much....

Alright! Finally, there's confirmation that the multi servers will be bigger than originally mentioned.

I suppose if you're comparing the home console versions of RF and RF2, the RF2 is indeed superior; as for the PC version, not so much.

It seems what's making the quote confusing for people is that the author didn't specify that they were referring to LAN play.

I should hope you mean on console.

RFII had much better console multiplayer than RF.
