Quoting M3TAL | But if its differn't I guess I wasted meh time. Thanks for clearing up the view thing for me. |
Did you just say playing GTA4 is wasting time?
You don't even have the same vehicles or weapons, neither controls in GTA4..
Quote | so prety soon all 8 and up series cards will double as both graphics and physics cards. |
Yea, stupidest decision made in gfx card history. AMD/ATI need something to hold against Intel/Nvidia.
Intel bought the Havok engine and want to implement it into their cores.
Graphics cards already running at their limits, if it wasn't so, tell me why the 20fps in Crysis on very high..
Most games need every bit of power from the cards, there is no room for physics calculations.
The only good thing is that physics and the rendered scene are in sync.
For example if your gfx card renders at 15fps because of the high detail, the CPU may have some more power left and calculates the physics at maybe 50fps. The physics will then look weird. Theres a nice Crysis video that showcases this, Mass Effect.
Havok has always been the better physics engine imo. |

Red Faction 3 Was Previewed in my Game magazine (Gunk.).
They said RF 1 Failed. As well as RF 2.
From now on i will never read it again.
Oh well but they said Co-op will NOT be in the game.
I still think it will suck. It doesnt even remind me of RF. Looks like some Hack 'n Slash game.
Maybe when the demo is released i'll download it but i'm 99 % sure i won't buy it.
But thats just my opinion.
OMG I just imagined GTA IV With Geomod. *Dreams*
This game called Prototype looks fun.
Well i'm back off playing BF Bad Company Demo xD |

Don't judge games until you've actually played them. I'm not sure whether or not I'll be getting RF:G, but I'll just have to wait until I've played the game to decide. |

pfft, it's a Red Faction title.
Of course I'm going to buy it
The video looks great.
The geomod seems to be fake, but I'm not sure. (my def. of fake would be that physicalized objects are used, which can be blown part.. unlike causing real holes in the geometry by modifying it in realtime as in RF1...and in some parts of RF2)
I agree with Ghostkids comment ing RFG as a "Hackn Slash game"
It seems like it's mainly going to be console game title with biggest focus on shooting up people... all the time. Like in Gears of War.
Sure it's fun, but imo the fun is not lasting very long. |

Quoting M3TAL | GTA4 is the first 3rd person game I've played longer then 2 hours so I just needed to learn how it plays. But if its differn't I guess I wasted meh time. Thanks for clearing up the view thing for me. |
Did ya never play Tomb Raider?
3rd person games go back way further than 1st person. Tecnically mario and nearly all early platform games can be seen as 3rd person alibit not 3D 3rd person. |

That video is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. I no longer care that it's 3rd person because it looks AWESOME. I do kind of agree with Red Frog that some of the geo looks "fake" but the rest of it made me droool.
The SP is going to be good regardless...... the online experience is what I'm worried about. |

if enough people complain about the 3rd person view, then u may find that they may change it before release, well at least in multi |

@ rawrzz, that's true.
Their level architecture seems to mostly base on outdoor areas.
Although... if they are not working on detailed indoor scenes I'm pissed about RF:G yet again
When you see that buildings are built of separate meshes, which can be blown away to fake the geomod effect, you will know that mapping for it will be a horrible experience.
In RF you don't need 3dsmax or Maya to create a level. If everything is made of meshes, then mappers without 3dsmax will always have to use the pre-made meshes of RF:G. Maps will all look the same, just built in different ways.
But maybe... just maybe they have developed a way of splitting up meshes in real time, which would not really resolve the fact that mapping for it is going to blow.
But if I think about it... Games with one big open world level (with should be split up into submaps) do not allow the user to create custom maps to it. They have yet not mentioned an editor at all.
That game has to be modifiable, otherwise it will die quickly. |

I they want people to like their games, they should listen to the people who are going to buy the game and those people are us, the players and mappers alike. |

That would be a good point, if we were the majority of the consumers, but we are not. Levels4You has maybe 20-or-so active players, and RF in its entirety has maybe 100. This is just a small fraction of the hundreds of thousands of customers they should expect. |

Yea lol. Most RF players doesn't visit L4Y or any RF related site at all.
Should we call them fans?
Also, sometimes people ask me where they can get these new weapons and maps everyone talks about. I tell them at L4Y, and it's new to them |

Well it would help if L4Y actually promoted there site with maybe an RF server or at least ask other custom servers to help promote the site by putting links up on default maps as to where they can download custom maps (after all this is a community) I am sure most servers would be happy to spread the word just for a thankyou mention on this site. |

There was a L4Y server at one point, but due to poor behavior, I believe, it was taken down almost immediately. |
