My Micro Map is Now finnished but all i need is to put in Spawns apart from it lagg like no tommorow on my Comp so it will be awhile
Ill be Submiting it As soon as the spawns are in

If it's laggy on your comp, after you finish the map you should open the vpp and extract everything from it to a folder then open each texture in that folder and cut the res in half and save then make a new vpp and add all the low res textures to it and add the rfl then save the vpp with the same name but with low res or something added to it then release a low res version for people with slower comps or 56k and a high res version for people with faster comps or high speed. But if you do this remember if you modify the rfl, to re add it to both vpp's so the 2 versions stay compatible with each other.

Texturing that boombox was harder than I thought it would be. Damn horizontal cylinders.

Well It's finished, anyway, so here are the pics.




I'd say it's not too bad for the fact that I made every texture on that thing from scratch except for the antenna (which I used a default for).

It looks good, but just a tip. When texturing cylinders, try applying map on a cylindracal map.

I tried that, set the cylinder map siza and rotated it correctly and everything but it still needed some UV Unwrapping to do. =\ Well it's done now so I cant complain. It was worth the work cause I think it looks awesome.

I think I should actually start making an actualy micromapinstead of just the objects that go in it.

Nothing wrong with the way you moddelled it tho (you have done a nice job). I just think the boom box looks ugly

A boombox is another name for a stereo or radio. You know, the thing you put a cd in or mabye a tape, with the music, and the songs, and the...yeah all that stuff.

I'm thinking about making an ambient sound around it, which song should I use of these choices?

Getting Away With Murder by Papa Roach
Wizards of Winter by The Tran-Siberian Orchestra
Stricken by Disturbed
Twisted by Infected Mushroom
Forgotten by Linkin Park

I think it's tough between the top two, Getting Away With Murder fits with the whole killing thing you do in RF, but Wizards of Winter would fit because it's Christmas time.

If I used any of those I would need to learn how to change them to .wav format. Would just changing the .mp3 to .wav at the end work?

Well I have been working on an actual minimap and it's coming along very nicely. So far I have the entertainment center below the flatscreen TV hanging on the wall, surround sound speakers, the stereo on a shelf above the TV, and some cool lightning-lamps surrounding it. I'll put a few pics on here in a minute.

And yeah, I think I made up the term Lightning Lamp.

I have some screenshots here. I need to make a good painted-drywall texture for the walls, by the way, I'm not using that.

Double Deck was my favorite battle map on Mario Kart 64, but if you're going to remake it for RF I suggest putting some more details into it. There's no fun in walking around empty rooms without any cover to proect you from oncoming fire.
