Quoting red frog | Will the vehicle be affected by gravity, when it was spawned by the event? If not, you've got another problem
(I think that was my first post in this thread. WOAH 35 pages!) |
the funny thing about this riddle, is....ive tried this. oddly enough, usually the vehicle will be affected by gravity, but SOMETIMES it wont. so every now and again, you have a useless tool to play with. oh and another thing. when spawning the jeep or any other entity...you canNOT control which direction it will face when it spawns. so if this is something your gonna try, then might i suggest spawning the object in an area with objects that will give its position, then build the map around the objects, then remove them.(just used as reference points to tell where the entity is facing). |

Isn't there an option in the spawn_object event to apply gravity?
I can't check that at the moment because I don't have RF on this machine.
There is an event called turn_off_physics which stops gravity working on an entity, but again you have the same problem that you can't use it on entities thats spawn after the game has started.
[edit]
Oh... I just saw goober mentioned this.
However, at the same time I just thought of something to try that might make it useful. But I'm not telling yet till I test it |

Mostertman I didn't know your were such a big fan of Red-Frog.
Looks good, except for that floating blue box where the player start is at. Can you do me a favor. Move the player_start to the fllor, this way when I play the level through single player I don't dire from the fall. |

LOL, At first I had no clue what your were talking about when you said I was a big fan of red frog, when I suddely realised you were talking about the picture in my room on the wall If you looked closer tho, you see the frogs are blue with green and orange It are tree frogs:
just like these

And moving the player start is something I'll do when the level is finished, If its ever going to be |

Cool thanks for moving it. I dislike it when I play a level through the launcher and I fall to my death. I try several times to type in heehoo so I can fly and not die.
If you look at the frogs, their eyes are RED, like they are looking at RED-FROG and nothing else. |

That happens when you are missing a texture. Look in the box/side window and you will see what texture it is. Add it to your Texture folder and it should solve that problem.
Also make sure this file is in your texture folder, especially if you are using particle emmiters:
Rck_DefaultP - Red Bug Work-Around
Description
We've discovered a bug in Red that stop you from building pack files for user made levels. It only happens if you have a particle emitter in your level that uses the default particle emitter texture (Rck_DefaultP.tga). It's really ease to get around. Simply put this texture (make "this texture" a link to the attached targa) into your "RedFaction\user_maps\textures" directory and you will be all set. |

Yay I think ID2 is finally done! I lost interest in it for the last couple weeks and I just decided to finish it in the last couple of days, thats why It took this long to finish. Anyway all I have left to do is write a few readme's then upload. I'll probably do that tomorrow. Anyway heres the final pic of it:

HM it would be interesting to play it again. I since have reformatted my hard drive.
This time I disabled the hyper-threading on my motherboard(on the bios) and Red Faction now run A LOT smoother. It was a pain in the butt to play MF last level but now I can play it like any other map. The frame rate is still the same but I no longer get that mouse freezing and your view and character ends up where you never intended it to you. You know like "we" had in your ID2 level.
Judging by your profile you and I(that's the unity ) seem to have basically the same system and I might recommend you disabling it. When I did bench mark tests on it, I got a higher CPU score with it enabled but the video score was higher with it disabled. I'll take a higher video score while playing a video game over a higher CPU any time of the week except Tuesday. Tuesdays being the slowest Red Faction day. |

How is disabling Hyperthreading going to affect other newer games? |

I have no idea, but the only other newer game I have loaded in this PC is UT2004. I was just playing some VCTF levels and I can't tell the difference when it was enabled and now. |
