ive got to fix the gravity on the map though ... its way too light ... i mostly get around it by bumping off of things ... and if you jump outside ... bye bye player (it takes about 5 min before the player can get down , and far enought to drift outside the box, making you an easy target for a sniper ...)

the solar panels need work too ... i need to fix them so the whole panel will shatter not half it disappear and the other half shatters. (if anybody know how to do this ... please tell me)

Also i came up with an idea the other night for a map but i haven't figured out if its even possible yet. (its really cool )

If you want the panels to shatter, you will need to make them a face brush, not a regular brush. Then give them a life of 100 in the brush properties. Then when you shot them, they should shatter. oh did I mention they should be a detail as well.

i got that stuff frank ... what i meant is they shatter ... just not all of the panel. Half of the panel turns into the glass shatter and the other half disappears after being shot. Is there a limit on how long your glass can be?

Edit: (looks down a PC) oh that reminds me ... time to change a certain power supply ...

well, i don't think its possible to make it look good though without modification.

i was thinking since it is possible to put a rotating skybox in a level why not put in one that is a sphere that is day on one side and night on the other. but the problem is that you can see 180 degrees around the skybox with a flat continuous ground in a level ... so if you were to look one way you would see the High noon sky but if you looked the other way you would see midnight. which is the problem

... the only way i could think of fixing this was by changing the POV in the skybox to a higher point so you would only see 90 degrees of the sky at a time ... so instead of seeing midnight and noon you would see noon and twilight.

you all get what i mean or am i going to have to draw something?

after this you could put in rotating lights around the level to simulate day and night ... but all of this would rely on timing (the easy part( and changing the point of view in the skybox (the hard part)

It does sound like a complicated Idea. So you want one side to be Night and the other Daylight? ,well anyways here's a few screenshots of my map:

Sounds a good idea to me. You could just create a skysphere that would steadily, slowly change from day to night. The skytexture being darker and darker until you can see the moon then steadily brighter. That would avoid that brutal line between night and day.

problem is when the brightest part of the sky is on the horizon the darkest part is on the other side of the sky at the same time which isn't realistic ... so to make it work properly, you would have to change the point of view that you see the skybox from ... decreasing your field of view of the sky ...

but setting up the trigger clock for light and darkness would be easy ...

LOL I just tried running ID2 on my Laptop which is A P4 @ 2.0GHz, a 64MB Integrated video card and 512RAM. And Wow not only does the map look bad it runs bad too. Also on the Laptop lots of the textures have random black chunks going through them..

So when I eventually release the map your probably going to need a mid to high end PC to run it. If your comp is just a bit over RF's requirements your probably not going to be able to play the map... Unles you can stnd playing with 1-15 FPS.

[edit]

Gasp, post 666

Those black spots in the textures is there cuz the texture size is to big, some Graphic cards cant handle that in RF :S
-waR'.se- I don't know who you are, where you are from, or what you want... But if you threaten my freedom... I'll kill you.    Modified Feb 13th, 06:44am by hA Warlord
