For the benefit of SKA and any other newcomers....

The theme is [gold]MUSIC[/gold]

And the basic rules are..

Quoting MrWizard
Rules:

All maps to be DM maps and to be named DM-RFU4-************* - Any maps not in this format will be re-named.

Map File size - 10 MB .zipped / .rar'ed not including separate music VPP file

Music in separate VPP unless it can be accommodated within overall map file size limit***

If Music contains explicit lyrics, music MUST be in a seperate VPP and be labeled accordingly. (i.e. MapMusicEXPLICIT.vpp)

Multiple maps are allowed, but depending on the number of finished maps at submission time, you may need to choose one to add to the pack. Everyone who maps will get at least 1 map into the pack.

If a map has serious problems and they aren't resolved by the final submission date, it will not be included. Problems include not enough spawn points, server crashers, lock ups, etc. If it doesn't work correctly, it doesn't get included.

First Submission Deadline – Sunday, May 29th, 2005. This gives you 6 weeks to finish your map.

Then there will be 10 days testing and tinkering time where the maps can be critiqued and polished.

Final Release date to be announced, but is likely to be around 10th / 11th of June

Readme's to include all usual references and also a description of your level and its association with your chosen idea. Since the maps will most likely be released in smaller packs this time, README'S ARE REQUIRED. Make sure they are named DM_Mapname_ReadMe.txt

Mapper Information
Would all mappers IM me providing the following details:

-Their confirmation of intention to map for RFU4
-Their chosen topic - this is to help sort out any conflicts as early as possible.

Testers: Mappers and Non-Mappers
Anybody wishing to contribute by means of testing purposes can also e-mail with their details

***Anyone who has difficulty in adding separate music VPP's can bring it to our attention and assistance will be given. This is true of most queries. We're here to help each other

Lets get this show on the road!

I'm sure the above is posted on the CDC but nevermind....

The music VPP or the map VPP? The map VPP is a strict 10MB. The music VPP isn't as important. Their being released separately.

Leninator, your of course welcome to join us. At this rate, I hope these maps get played, because if not, we're going to have ALOT of dejected mappers on our hands...I wish there was an easy way to get a head count here.

Here is an other image from me: I've added an Piano.

only building instrument thus far but don't reaaly have an good idea for the room yet, but that wil come.

I din't smooth the trumpet, because it diidn't quite work for the vertical cylinder part of the trumpet. It looked great for the horizontal parts.

Yeah but unfortunately you would have to use music events that would prevent Mac users from being able to play the maps Unless you linked the songs together in Goldwave first so it was one long song, could always insert pauses

WOW looks like im gonna have to start messin with those smoothing grooups eh. Looks good man.
As far as comments made earlier about maps that you were "already" working on, and can "tweek" to fit the theme. thats just straight up llame! im currently making a WHOLE pack of maps, that i could easily modify to fit the theme here, but i think the point is to "create" one especially for the pack. IMO in the future, if thats gonna be the plan of attack for your map/maps for the RFU project....please keep that info to yourselves. it kinda cheapens the whole thing to me. dont mean to sound HARSH, or like im coming down on anyone, but i know of the work by most of the mappers here, and i believe that you are ALL more than capable of \\\"composing\\\" a musical map.

WITH all that said. MY MAP IS READY FOR ITS FIRST PRE-TEST!!!

Wow, that trumpet looks impressive. Everything so far does. Good job. I forgot to pick my keyboard up, and I don't feel like activating and deactivating the keypad on my laptop... so I won't start mapping til this weekend.
