the songs idea is pretty good ... somebody needs to convert origional RF songs to .OGG so we can Use them in MW ...

is there anyway we can predefine a music player list in MW? ... that would be interesting to change the musicplayer so that its default songs are RF origionals ...

That would be very easy to do and only take about 15 min to have every song converted .

Well I like the sound of the WASP. goober, he meant make it so its primarily for Taking out vehicles, but maybe that could be a second function, and the first function can be normal WASP rocket style.

loved the WASP so much fun.


RF songs are a good one...

Maps... ALOT more needed.

Music Player list? should be a setting surely. I would find it hard to believe it wouldn't be changable and that it wouldn't be as simple as changing names/directories.

i know for a fact that its written somewhere, because i found that part of a file or that file at one time ...

Some have already been converted for Mars Wars 1.0.
I cannot access the skin texture files of RFII, skins would have to be done from scratch from someone.

Yes. Its also not possible to overwrite/replace classes without modifying the game.
And yes its possible to place regular UT04 items, but they won't work/appear in Mars Wars. I had to take care of that..

i knew RFII was pretty hardcoded ... can you reach the sounds RedFrog? or is that also encrypted?

still even if they are not encrypted it would be harder to make VPs for them ... they don't talk in game that much ...

heres another question ... is it possible to have a animated texture on a character? it would be cool if we could get the veins to glow ... but i guess first things first. Are we going to have RFII characters? ... i kinda think we should make normal RF characters first (like business people, rest of mercs, capeck, mutants?, female miners? and the bots) at least ... RFII doesn't match RF that well if you haven't noticed ... i think it would detract from the mod because of the difference between characters (and possibly vehicles)...

i guess the biggest issue as of right now that restricts RF is vehicles ...

i think we could maybe add a tank like the concept tank i showed earlier, we could add the driller, and we will have to think of a small, fast, lightweight, vehicle ...

I've been reading through this forum of all the new things being added to MW, in my opinion, I believe that instead of creating an RF2 portion of it in 1.1, some things in the original should be focused on first. The weapon change/scroll is almost disfunctional. The maps for MW are great, don't get me wrong, but a lot more would be preferred; I believe many would agree that those maps included are the best, but the RF players play those maps all the time and we would like something different thrown in the mix. THX MW Team for all your hard work!

Don't worry, I have the same view giggles1. I also think we should try our hand at a MicroFaction recreation. From one of wreck's maps. Of course, we'd need someone skilled in UED... *cough* RED-FROG *cough*

I know you're really tryig to push the RFII stuff, you have been from the beggining ...

the problems is most of that stuff (if not all of it) does not fit well with the origional RF theme, lets face it, they really, REALLY did a plot jump from RF to RFII

Alot of that stuff would be cool to have, but putting them together wouldn't feel right, it probably would with any other sequel but the sequel for this one wasn't even close to the same as the origional ...

With the exception of the music and the way the game itself was made.. The plot, and accessories related to the plot couldnt be more differnt

You see, I have played both RF and RF2. Despite them being so different I would agree with Duke.

I reckon the weapons would only increase gameplay value. Ok balance is going to be a tough issue, such as... why use RF Assault Rifle when you have the RF2 one with Grenade launcher combined?


I think it would be good to do the following:

Model the RF2 weapons into the game, then allow the mappers to put what they want in, so they could put all RF weapons in, but then add say... The WASP from RF2.

On top of that, you could make them mutators AS WELL, that way if someone wants to plaay there server with a few select RF2 weapons and RF weapons, they can pick and choose via the mutator menu.


Its all about Balance. well actually all about RedFrog. He is the only one who has done anything really. Everyone else has said this and that, but he has done 97.9% of the work.


In order of importance to the mod I think we need the following:

Maps. We need more default CTFs. We also need more VCTF and a few more RA. DM is set with several although its nice to have more, we need to add more to the other modes first. NEEDED!

Vehicles. even 1 more would be good. we need a good one though it cant just be thrown in, the Sopot Jeep? that would be similar to the jeep however a one man vehicle would be handy as the jeep needs a gunner.
Maybe a slightly more powerful aerial fighter, but its slower? OPEN TO DISCUSSION.

Sounds/Music. Not too testing to convert as far as i figure. (From what you guys are saying).OPTIONAL.

MusicPlayer. Find the list, and we have another simple, yet clever way to enhance the way MWs feels.OPTIONAL.

Characters. 8 is great, but its a tad annoying seeing everyone using the same 3 skins... However this isnt too important ATM.NEEDED, BUT NOT THIS RELEASE?

RF2 Stuff. This is basically open to discussion.

But this isn't RF it's "Mars Wars" It doesn't have to fit in with the RF theme.
