I guess I could start looking at the 2nd DVD I got with the tutorials from 3d Buzz and see if I can get started... |

Yes it should have a higher range, too.
There is a way to let things only spawn when the framerate is higher than the desired framerate. (30fps by default I think) This avoids slowdowns in UT. I'll do that for the flamethrower.
(its a standard technique..which is used for most effects.) |

couldn't you just add some more merc textures that have different #'s and shades of colors? you can base more than one character off of a model, all you have to do is add a new line and give it a new name like "Merc 2" and a new DM texture ... the team colors can be off the origional ...
plus, it would be easy addition for a couple of new (sort of) characters ...
but this seems more like an Assault gametype
... it would be good if you could do a version where you play as the mercs and one as the guards ...
you could even have one where the guards have to fight off mercs (they were killing everyone you know ...)
like have a INV based from the guards point of view that is down in the mines at a check point, and you have to defend the checkpoint ...
but this seems more like a Assault Gametype ... |

hard to say...
If we included the sub, we would have to make some maps with water.. (would be alot of fun, vehicle capture the flag with subs under water )
Capek wouldnt be too hard, but he is kind of old... i really dont think he would suit the fast movement that MW players need... |

Hehe speaking about Capek.. he could be one of the Warlords for MWINV
I've built the base for the INV gametype. (added the gametype itself to the game..)
I did a test with the drone and it works well. Only would have to complete the fire effects and a couple of other things for it.
Modeling all those creatures and robots will take some time.. scripting them would take even more time.
I dunno if it will be worth it since I'd have to focus only on that thing.
One time I played INV with the arena mutator to gave everyone a flamethrower. It was fun to flame all those little insects
I like the way that you can play inv in DM maps, so no additional have to be built for it.
I have also plans for a Mutant gametype, were the mutant has that body armor from RF2 but time is such an rare ressource |

Lets just understand something..
MarsWars is NOT a replica of Red Faction. Its basically a new game built around our favorite game: Red Faction 
REDFROG, can you send me the new gametype? Id like to try my hand at scripting some new monsters...
Can we please make a list of monsters we want to be included? |

It's not possible to send you just a gametype. All scripting is in two files.
You could download a test mod from the Unreal developement networks site (MarsWars started with that small test mod) and simply modify the UT04 Invasion gametype by extending it..in the default properties you can then replace the monsters with own classes. But scripting those guys will not be needed before the models are done.
(most of the scripting will only take part on the behaviour of the weapons, movement speeds etc.)
Scripting and modeling the monsters depend on each other.
I was thinking about having the choice between robots, creatures and Ultor (mercs, guards..). I have to find out if I can make that possible. |

for creatures you could add the bat and make it like the manta ray thing ... it would have to be slower though, it would be hard to shoot a flock of those things ... the worms seem too big for INV, so it would just be mutants, bats and reepers that would be in the game type ...
Personally i like the other mars wars gametype no one knows about yet ... the type that Beatonator was working on .
you could steal code from the assault mode to make the bots do what they're supposed to. and pathnodes would be fairly easy ...
its the scoring system im most worried about ... i don't think it would work right without checkpoints
Edit: i am sooo going to look at UED when i get home this weekend ... |

But how do you play it without maps?
Mars Wars doesn't even have the right amount of maps for the basic gametypes. When we started this I thought we would find mappers and I didnt think I would have to make any maps at all.
This gametype would be a just for fun thing and has no real relation to Mars Wars and other mods will always be 10times better when it comes to this thing. |

i have a few rail arena maps im ready to release, just havent yet.
the "secret" gametype will not be revealed to the public until its realeased... just for suspence 
Im already working on a map or 2 for that too.
In my spare time (not alot of it, and once school reopens ill have even less) ive been working on a few CTF and Dm maps from REDFROGs Eko mod... and one CTF map from that im turning into VCTF (that would be CTF-HiHills)
were good to go.
I can start modeling them i guerss.. dont know how good ill do right now though... i might need to go watch 3dbuzz tutorials again as i havent modeled in MAX for quite a while.
Assman, if your reading this... mind modeling some stuff?
Ive been working on some textures (i plan to have ALL of RFs graphics (yes, even player and weapon skins) remade in high resoulution) I do realise that would take a bit long.. |

Looking good Goober.
Yeah the idea was inventive I must say 
Me and DVL I.A.C. tested my re-done map and it played nicely. but it isnt finished. have no idea about making the checkpoints, I thought about doing it the Assaultway too Assaultman.
RedFrog... Now I have learnt a bit of UED im gonna make a few defaults into UED for you shortly I hope. |
