Well, right now I'm playing as a Merc with a Male Juggernaught voice that I can't change.
Those who follow the path of others lack the imagination or courage to create their own.
In my spare time I like to write game reviews for Game Revolution.

uhm.. *cough* Yeah now thats a problem. Only solution..remove that MarsWars.ini OR MarsWarsUser.ini and the game will put back the defaults.
The main reason why the voicepacks are not chooseable is because the options would allow you to change to UT2004 voices..and we thought that would be bad.

But REDFROG, i want to be able to make full things, not just parts (models) i want to be able to make FULL monsters..
Ill find out how soon

I really dont like the idea of keeping UT2004s monsters in MW... Even if we just have like 7 new monsters...
Spike can be one, as its already mostly done..
Mabye the Drone can be like the new Warlord; since warlords already fly and use rockets, you would only need to change the model, animations, and make it fire rockets and lasers...
All the creatures from RF can be included too, as well as Diesels zombie dog..

REDFROG, ive been meaning to ask;
Can you PM me all the models/animations/skins you used for the Eko animations? Im working on WoC3 in MW and i need to make the meshes and stuff (i can get them into MW, dont worry; plus it will give me alot of UnrealScript experience )

Why the eko models? This is Mars Wars not eko.
Do you want to put them in? That would not make anything better.
Also you can't port them over to UT2004 that easily.(but thats not the problem)

( I don't have the mp3 player or camera here with the memory so I can't bring anything from my computer to the internet, anway. My sister has all the things atm )

The Drone...a Warlord? I didn't know these small drones were that tough. I was thinking about having Capec as some sort of boss.

We can work on things only step by step..not everything at once.

The one your talking about is Spike; hes already done...

I want the eko models to take the animations and make them into objects for UT..

Yeah that Drone is annoying. Hated playing against him in that plant, where he sort of followed you everywhere you went!


I was thinking about something, don't know how you guys would feel but how about VTDM? Im a big fan of vehicles, only thing we would need is a weapon that cant take out the vehicles if your stranded on foot. so far its a toughy to kill vehicles I have found. Not when your in another vehicle though...

Maybe the Machine guns you could port in for base defence?

The RA arena... its ok, but needs work... the original one I had in mind was bigger and had the towers from Canyon in the corners of the map, but I couldnt find them in any of the Static mesh packages.

theyre not in the mesh packages.. well they are, but they are in pieces.

Just go into the canyon map, make a prefab, save it in a package, import it into your map, then make it a prefab in YOUR maps's myLevel package, then delete the original one from the saved prefab package, that way you dont have to send the prefab package with the map

VTDM sounds very.. erm.. interesting
It could work out good, or it could work out bad, i can see it going either way

plus VTDM would be extremly easy to make, just copy the TDM script (which extends the oriiginal UT TDM ) then tell it "bAllowVehicles=true" and bang, it allows vehicles...
I started playing SP RF last night, because i was bored and because i cant barely remember it... And man! I got a TONNE of ideas!
Its just so cool...

I was thinking of that idea, in vehicle maps, have the RF machine gun turrets there so you can man them and shoot down enemy vehicles, that would be all we needed...

No question, we need more vehicles... we only have 3.. id like to get at least 6.. say 2-3 air vehicles and 3-4 ground vehicles...

yeah, i wanted to be able to have turrents too in MW ... it would give more incentive to stay up in a tower if there was a turrent up there ...

also i love VCTF that are centered with bases ... problem is players don't utilize their defenses as much as they should ...

If i were to make a map i think i would try and make another canyon type map ...

You can find some complete prefabs in the MarsWarsPrefabs file (MarsWars/Prefabs or UT2004/System/Prefabs) Not sure if I included them, though.
Prefabs aren't needed to copy one thing to another map. Just select something, hit ctrl+c (or right click on use 'copy', open your map and hit ctrl+v(better: right click on the location you want it to, go to edit and choose 'paste at location') . Prefabs are actually the same thing. (and doesn't need to be saved to mylevel at all(if its possible).

Fixed turrents were planned but there was no time for them, neither a use for them yet. I don't think VTDM would make any sense Destruction derby? What would be different to VCTF? No CTF flags that make the game interesting..

Yes I agree. But that is also because of the fast gameplay. However Mars Wars is slower than UT2004.. and if you play a botmatch and leave no bot at your base you'll quickly lose the flag, so defenses are a little more important.

RedFrog, i forgot to tell you i don't have RFII with me ... or the packager anymore and i won't be home to look at for another 2 weeks ...

RFII is hard coded anyway ... i don't even think you can reach the sounds ...

but i haven't explored it in a while ...

yeah, it seems that in all games defensive measures aren't taken as well as they could because it slows down the gameplay for the player who is doing the defending ...

In canyon i sat in a tower at my base sniping people that would come along and it wasn't long untill i got bored of sniping ...

so to get people to defend the base better you have to make defending the base more exciting to do than getting the flag ...

thus adding heavy firepower for defense is fun ...

i think there should be the rocket turrent and the machine gun turrent ...

they are tons of fun in RF ...

Yes, you can. Try looking in the folders common_sounds, voice sounds and music.

Will do. Music files heavly increase the download size, and I didn't want to push the size too much for the first release.
The size of the mod should be in relation of the content the mod offers..or something
(you cannot have a mod with 3 new weapons, 5 new maps and 50MB of music for exampleThat'd annoy some slow internet users )

If you are going to add RF2 objects in the 1.1 version, that will really help with player model numbers, voicepack options, map numbers, weapon numbers and music.

For instance, the RF2 WASP missile launcher could be your replacement for the AVRiL.

as far as i know, there are no replacements, just all new weapons made for marswars (because in MarsWars UnrealED, you could still place regular unreal weapons/ammo...)
Extending a class is not replacing

Basically what say having the MarsWars rocket launcher class extend the UT rocket launcher class means is that the MarsWars rocket launcher will be exactally the same as the UT one, except you can change any settings you want...
