It deleted my post. Garner tu blograhn e neibenheimer!!!!!!!!! I thought you fixed this "page can't be displayed" stuff! For V-Allender, who doesn't know how Censored I am in the head, the "foreign language" is my own design, based off Latin and Germanic languages (sure, Esperanto is an actual language that fits those criteria, but I'm lazy and screaming so no one can understand is twice as fun as swearing when they can understand you ).
Anyway, I said, roughly:
Perhaps we can find a way to host it on a weekend? Would be difficult to tell family, however ("Father can't play now, busy pwning noobs. Run along and get some skill now").
Also, as far as being fired, I know of some (extreme) cases where people have been fired for playing the game.
EDIT from Canada!!!!: Garner is doubly the blograhn I called him. How in the name of Canada do all the posts get this Censored up? I don't even know if my post will even be on here. I give up for now until I can be assured my post will make it to the "Red Faction Gametracker" thread. |

Quoting Vidi44 | As far as the timeline, 8 pm CST might be a bit restrictive for our international users. |
There may not be much that we can do about the time. We all work during the day and the after hours time is the only time that we can make it. And believe it or not, with regular jobs, most people here won't stay up until 12 midnight :-)
Quoting Vidi44 | Insofar as Mr. Allender's job security: would you and the Volition team, in participating in this tournament, infringe or otherwise violate your jobs? We'd hate to see you all lose your jobs over this or lose your credibility within Volition or THQ. |
Um, no. It's just a multiplayer game, right? And it's our game, right? There's a lot of interest in it for sure.
Quoting Vidi44 | Finally, a quick question about Volition's #1 rule about employment within the company: Why do you have to live in Champaign, Illinois? Couldn't you just as easily submit your work via the Internet? |
The short answer is no. I could probably talk about 20 minutes on this topic, but many of the things that you suggest in your post are not accurate. There is much face to face communication outside of meetings. Game design and programming is a very iterative process, and we _require_ the ability to go and talk to whomever is working on a system at any time during the work day. There is no studio that I know of that has been around for any number of years who would regularly conduct business like this. We do outsource certain things like audio and art, but we have never done that with programming, nor do I see us doing so in the near to extended future.
I will start a separate thread in the forums with regards to a game next week. |

If NoClanFrank has a 700KB/s+ upload rate, then it should be able to handle 32 peeps just fine. I myself on 256KB/s u/l can handle 16 with no lag.
I would also be glad to partake in this event. |

Err ... People ... KB/s is something WAY different then Kbps and I think not everyone realises that. Someone with 256 KB/s upload should be able to host 24 players, THOUGH someone with 256 Kbps upload can only handle 8 with some luck.
Kbps <-- Kilobits per second, the term that's often used by providers.
KB/s <-- KiloBytes per second (note the capitals K
KB/s is 8 times as much as Kbps. So sobe ... I'f I'm not mistaking you have 2 MBits upload, and Frank about 768 Kbits (according to that testresult).
And ... In RF ... Capicity doesn't matter most of the times, Back to those day's I had 10 Mbit upload some people would just lag because of RF's badly tuned network (I seemed to hold 20 players without lag once, but those were all europeans that had cable =/ When RF has to send to a distance lag is almost unavoidable). |

i got this from that site that NCF posted
Code | Your download speed : 3453 kbps or 431.7 KB/sec.
Your upload speed : 516 kbps or 64.5 KB/sec.
|
but then again, i used a seattle server, and im in newfoundland.
let me try my local ISP's speed test.
EDIT: i got this there:
Code | File size downloaded : 3076 KB
Total time travelled : 6781 milliseconds
Throughput : 464.0 KB/sec (Kilobyte-per-second)
= 3.63 Mbps (Megabit-per-second) |
EDIT#2: on my second test i got this:
Code | File size downloaded : 20512 KB
Total time travelled : 44125 milliseconds
Throughput : 476.0 KB/sec (Kilobyte-per-second)
= 3.72 Mbps (Megabit-per-second) |
is this good or bad? |

I get a decent ping on goober's but unfortunately he has weapons disabled and homie don't play like that. I left after the last match was finished. I like to play the game the way it was made to be play by the original authors with all weapons enabled. |

Are you sure?
Then it wasn't your server I was playing on?
If my memory serves me correctly, you had the HMG and invulnurability disabled. I don't know if anything else was disabled. The HMG being disabled didn't bother me but when I tried to survive a burst of Perscion Rifle Shots and I couldn't pick up the invulnurability, that bothered me. I fought long and hard to get to it, only to not be able to use it.
If it wasn't your server, I apologize. |

Quoting dennisstamp | Still doesn't work for me, after I uninstalled an reinstalled RF. It's probably my damn ISP (Rogers) blocking out internet traffic as usual. |
Also check your firewall setting and that you are not in stealth mode .... |

The game tracker should be functioning normally.
We should not expect Volition to give RF any support other than running the game tracker. Despite the fact that RF is intrinsically their baby - they are letting it fly on it's own without any official updates or concerns.
Dennis Stamp, are you sure that you are aiming your RF to the RFGT? I can look for the IP of the game tracker when I get home from work if you still cannot resolve it. |
I have suffered in real life for the past couple years, now its your turn! |
