I've played around with force spawning of bots alot. Clients can suffer damage but the results are fairly unpredictable. Because they are intended only for SP, there is no code for dealing with multiple players. Just look at the teleport event. It treats everyone as if they are the one player and teleports then all at once to the same place.
I made a map with a tankbot and then host a lan game. The server could see it but clients could not . If the server's character was placed near the bot, it attacked instantly with its claws (This was after it ran out of rockets). If a client stood near it, it also attacked them but only some of the time. They suffered damage when it did, even though they couldn't see it. Damage seems to be treated as an MP effect even if the bot causing it was only intended for SP.
I could never come up with a good use for bots becaiuse of their limited functionality.... except for one idea which I never got around to trying. You could have a map liek one I made awhile back called KOZ POGO (blatant advertising) where it is like one big jump pad. Everyone keeps jumping around with railguns. My idea was to add randomly spawned bots so that it made shooting real players more difficult. There would be bots jumping around all over the place.
Question on the next version of purefaction.... I know it was said banning will be made easier. What was the thought... more like lazyban? I hope so. |

For your understanding: People take damage from the shooting guy on Spider Pod, which is true. (even to those (clients) who can't see these guys since these guys run on the server. |

Btw I thought DM - Nikkis Spider Pod Base had the song "The Prodigy - Outta Space" or somethin like that included. Is it now missing or am I wrong and had it running in winamp years ago? (the music absolutely fits, so I'm not sure, Frank would know ) |

Nope, no music. One thing that I did find when I opened the file that explains a lot about that level. It only has 3 re-spawn points.

That implies(makes other think) that host can't see them, which they can.
Before I posted that level. Me and a few others tested the level (including PPwhenUSeeMe and The_One). I was hosting the server(non-dedicated). I saw the rockets coming at me, the players that join my server (including Espear, who joined after a few games on the same level) could not see the rockets that I was talking about. The rockets didn't pack enough fire power to frag you completely, unless you had no armor.
Funny thing is that I mentioned this to him (Espear) and asked him if he wanted to remove that from the level before it got released and he said no, which I thought was kinda dumb on his part. I am not ragging on him, I think he does or did great levels. He just likes putting hidden room to give the player an advantage. I am just wondering if he did this to give people who joined a non-dedicated server an advantage over somebody who has a zero ping. I guess if I look at it that way, it wasn't so dumb after all on his part. 
Ah the good old days when we/I actually tested the submitted levels with friends before I released the level to the open public. You know just to make sure that they worked. I even went as far as testing them both under dedicated and non-dedicated conditions.

Is or does Pure Faction have the ability to host a non-dedicated server yet? If not, is there any plans for it... TrotSkie are you there. |

It is possible to reduce the cmd line word to only a prefix or even a single letter to fasten operation?

how slow do you type things?
Imagine L will do the "level" command. You first need to know the whole word level to remember the shortcut was L, in this time you could have just typed in level.
Everybody is used with the commands. The only big one is rcon_request anyway. |

REDFROG, are you a conservator? 
The goal is just to speed up annoying things to focus on GoOd one, why not change for better?
example:
Time_Limit
Kill_Limit
Spectate
ToggleNetMeter
If you only perform 1 command, you can easily browse thought the log with arrow, but when you use many, it take a lot more time to apply what you want...
MS = Mouse Sensitivity, why not reduce other?

acually, type rcon in console then press tab and it'll finish the command for you 
That works with any command. You need to type enough of the command so that it could only possibly be the beginning of that command, no other one then hit tab and it will finish it for you.
ex: "l + tab" gives you level
ex: "ban_ + tab" gives you ban_ip
ex: "viv + tab" gives you vivalahelvig
etc... |

Tab, is nice without doubt, but we need to have user friendly cmd for any kind of players. I think we need to give quick access, particularly for Spectate, also for people that don't know extra key and it will be same time faster for anyone with a simple...

TrotSkie - Skin & Hud problem with mod
Pure1.vpp block mod custom skin if use the same texture path, I can change name convention to enable them, but what happen with the hardcoded gogglemask? Does the next update or later Full mod support feature will let gogglemask customization?

I would like to know if is possible to fix all enemy footsteps for all weapons in multiplayer with Pure Faction? The question appear to be weird first, but you cannot always hear enemy footsteps, it depend on which weapon they have in hands... I don't know if they are stable with windows 98, but with XP is not acceptable.
Another fix that it would be welcome is to remove the duplicate bullet...
