Pure faction is probably going to be completely optional for clients, and I don't think the fix modifies your games files at all. I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to join v1.2 servers. |

Ok... The way it works is...
You're running Pure. You can join all 1.2 servers. (Don't bother with 1.3, it's garbage compared to PF)
BUT
If you host a server on pure, regular 1.2 users can JOIN but they cannot spawn and will be given a message telling them where and how to download Pure.
I can't say this enough... Everyone must go Pure. I really see no reason not to. It's what RF has needed since release. |

Sounds like you're going for a complete overhaul guys. good plan in my opinion. I'm in a similar predicament as others, my gaming rig has an 8 series card and my old rig is being leant to a friend. for a while. and i have got no/very little way to play RF. i still have it installed but can't play

I've been watching this topic from the beginning and i think it would be good to release the fix seperately as well as with pure so people who don't want to use pure but have 8 series cards will be able to play their game again. although it doesn't sound nessecary, as being able to join un-pure servers when you have pure on will work.
but i'd still like the chance to play servers i host with others outside who decide not to use pure.
This way people will be ably to play without the hastle of running pure. it will make it more compatible with 1.2 rather than just clients having the freedom and leaving out hosts like i said before. |

Look at first post for the new info. As for me releasing the 8*** nvidia fix without pure - not going to happen. For one i dont see the point. |

Not to try to disregard your work, but the point would be for those that are looking merely for a fix related to the drivers, rather than having PF forced upon them.
I'll be getting PF though regardless. |

Sobe - PF should and will be forced upon every RF user. It has to be - A patch like this is the only catalyst RF needs to get back on its feet. |

huh? No... all I'm saying is that it should and will be pushed upon all of RFs users. Why not? I really cannot think of ONE reason for anyone not to go Pure. |

Goober, I can appreciate the work that Trotskie has done on PF, but if you think that this will get RF back on it's feet, I have to say that your delusional. I, too, am looking forward to playing modder free, but I think the only thing that will get RF back on it's feet will be RF3, if and when, it is created (assuming THQ doesn't screw it up like RF2). I do hope that the 8XXX fix will be released as a standalone, since it's just a nice thing to do. Meanwhile, PF may delay the inevitiable decline, but won't stop it. |
