I am not a part of RFU4 but I would be glad to test all of the maps.....I have mapped before and I was an artist as my job for many years.

I would be glad to have a look at them and give any constructive criticisms.

Otherwise I will just wait for them to be released.

NOTE: In past RFU releases there was a couple of "re-released" maps due to errors NOT found in "testing". This upset a few of the mappers beacause these maps were later released as single maps. You guys should make a "release them only as map pack" RULE and NOT allow the mapper to re-release any map for ANY reason. <--just my opinion.

I got not problems with that MB, but isn't the final submission deadline on Wednesday? When is the deadline again?

The final deadline can't be on wensday, because I don't have the idea there has been any real testing of the RFU maps, and releasing them without propper testing would just be a stupid thing to do.

ok whos been leaking the rfu4 maps? i was just on a server playing mf's gravel pit there was 3 ppl playing, not including me, and not 1 of em was part of rfu4....


anyway this weekend we should set up like an official rfu4 testing day and get as much ppl in rfu4 as possable to test all the maps in 1 server for a few hours.

the server was called BAW(***DEDICATED or something like that and it was 3 ppl with a BAW tag... and i asked if any of them were even in rfu4, all said no.

There's a few of the BAW lads who I use as my personal testers No-one got a game organised on the dedicated so I gave it to them for us to test They musta liked it and decided to have a game on it, I'll ask them all to delete that version now and wait for the release. No harm done

der iac i am BAW(***NoRuff and i have been aroind every single time it was played. i havent seen any one ask if we were in rfu. we will take the map off rotation. but srry to come off a tad rude but we just had to have a look, mf is a close friend of the baw clan and we usually get early peaks at maps that he makes.

cant wait for the rest of the pack to come out gl guys

edit ok got some more info, they sayd they played it today when i wasnt available, and you were on srry to come off rude iac. well take it form rotation and wait for the pack to come out

The deadline was supposed to be Thursday, but because of the lack of testing, I'm extending it until Sunday. I wanted to release the pack this weekend, but it isn't going to happen. I was in almost all of the maps yesterday, and they look good. But we need to test with lots of people.

Everyone, please post what times you can be available to test and what time zone your in. If you find someone else that has a time similar to yours, get with them and get testing.

If we can get in a decent amount of testing by Friday, I'll reconsider releasing this weekend.

Also, more than likely, once I have everyone's map, I will be combining into one big VPP, music and all. Then I'll be carving it up with WinRAR into much smaller chunks. This will allow us to have one copy of the VBM and any other identical textures, thus saving a little space.

LETS GET TESTING!

Anyways, those rock bridges and such HAVE been mesh-smoothed. If you do it again it more than quadruples the vertex count (close to RED limits)... and it would run... crappy on many players computers, especially as you can really only portal such a map once. So, I'm making a compromise between looks and performance... unless I get it suggested by other testers (as in a clear majority) it'll stay simply for the people with slower computers.

nah u dont have to take it outta the rotation. i didnt know u guys were mf's testers i thought someone in rfu was sending ppl all the rfu maps to ppl not in the rfu pack but if its just mfs map and u guys are just testing i dont care as long as ppl arnt sending ppl not in rfu pack, rfu maps without authors permission

noo not mesh smooth smooth groups... like what mf is always talking about. its done in texture mode and u just select all the faces of a brush then right click and click properties and under, where it says smoothing groups, just check one of the boxes this changes the lighting on the object so it looks better and smoother and it doesn't increase face count. then i also like setting lightmap resolution to highest and that makes shadows look really nice on the brush if there is any shadows on it.

i can test probably friday night and saturday night any time between like 3:30PM and 1:00AM and i am GMT -5.
