i have created a torrent file of the most current map versions, and put it on the FTP. ill be leaving my torrents up for everyone to seed eachother if yall want to help eachother get better speeds |

Well, that is good to hear then A1. My map is finished and I hope the pack comes out soon 
I would like to know one thing though, couldn't the mappers of RFU4 get the pack earlier than others?! lol |

it seems as tho you \"MAY\" need to use the same BT client as me.(AZUREUS)but not totally sure about that.  |

I edited my map a bit and re uploaded it to the ftp and included a readme so go d/l it to saty up to date |

apparently some people cant get it to work for them MF recieved the torrent and had no problems getting it to start right up. i dont know what the issue is, but so far only person to successfully use the torrent, already used Azureus.

i suppose as long as everyone has their FINAL versions on the ftp prior to deadline, we will already have them  |

Ok folks, we're in the testing phase, but it doesn't seem like there's a whole lot going on. Get onto A1's server, test out these maps. I was hoping to have a server up as well, but due to my boss not giving me access to the firewall, I can't open the ports.
I will be away this afternoon, but later tonight, I plan on testing. I know we all live in different time zones and such, but we gotta setup a few times when several people can get into the server. I want these maps tested to death. If you see a problem, it should be posted here, and if you have one, a possible solution on how to fix it. Remember, this about technical problems. Holes, geo problems, etc. I don't want to hear whines of "This doesn't fit the theme" or "you need more decals". You are free to make whatever changes you want to your maps in the coming week, but make sure those changes get tested. You put in a new secret, make sure it gets tested by someone other than yourself.
Get people in your map and just shoot rockets until the geo is gone to make sure it doesn't crash. Make sure it doesn't crash ServerAssist. Make sure it doesn't crash when there are too many people in it. Make sure you have enough MP Spawn points, make sure your weapons are balanced, etc, etc, etc. I could go on forever.
In RFU1, there wasn't a single unplayable map. There were some bugs, but nothing like we've experienced in some of the later RFU's. Unplayable maps, no MP spawn points, etc. TEST, TEST, TEST. If this is going to be the last rally call of RF, I want it to be a loud one! |

Well, I will test once I get home on broadband to dl the maps. This sh!tty gAyOL downloads at about 5KB/s and I would much rather wait til I get home if you know what I mean. |

ATTENTION MAPPERS, TESTERS, AND ORGANIZERS!!!!!
the rfu test server has been up pretty much not stop(with a few short breaks for other releases and tests)since the first few maps for this project were put on the ftp. and to this date it has been used very few times, by only a few of you.  if you guys feel we dont need a server, just continue to not use it, and i will shut it down. hey its no sweat off my back to run the dedi for this, but if its not gonna be used, id rather put some maps that will get played in the rotation. IMO the point of running a dedicated server, is so that players will always have a place to go play good maps. the maps up there now are good maps. GO TEST THEM!!! we need to make sure they are ALL suitable for the pack(this means playable without crashing and no major errors) have fun testing, and lets get this thing finished and released. |

I was taking a shower and a few thoughts came to me:
1. If you are going to release the maps as a pack and then as individual maps. Why not make the RFU4 one single .vpp.
2. If you still want to add the music in a separate .vpp then I guess that could be ok, as not everybody likes the same type of music.
3. Why am I thinking about RFU4 in the shower?
This way if somebody downloads the map pack, they can be sure that they extracted all the files into their multi folder. Just a thought. I know it's off topic and I am sorry for that.

hey Pickles if your back before the rfu pack is reliced you should smooth groups on all those vertex edited things in ur map. i just did it to see what it would look like and everything looks smoother / better IMO so you should do it to see if you think it looks better then if you do, re upload it for the map pack |

I agree with NCF. I myself have all the RFU map packs in a seperate .vpp for each pack. For instance RFU has it's own single .vpp, RFU2 has it's own single .vpp, and RFU3 has it's own single .vpp.
It may be a little harsher on 56k users but they would not have to download many sections of a single map pack.... |

I personally think this should have been the case with all the RFU map-packs. I have since done it in VPP Builder. They were never to be released seperately, so why make it easier for them to be distributed seperately?

A music themed map-pack with no music is a bit dumb to me, sure some people might get tired of some of the music but might love some of the other tunes. I don\'t mind putting my music in a seperate VPP but if we tie this into Question 1, are we gonna have one single music VPP containing all the tunes or one map VPP and like 15 seperate music VPP\'s?

I sincerely hope you have not included me in that comment, RJ. I pulled my map mainly for 2 reasons, 1 was that i feel my close friend has been slighted and in support of him I felt it would not be right for me to continue and the other is, judging by some of the comments and the fact that my skills are not up to the standard of some of the experience mappers, i felt that i would be put down by the regular naysayers on pooppoopers in these forums and didnt feel the need to expose myself to that. In no why did I 'throw a tantrum' at all, however, having said that, I have seen some of the maps submitted and I probably should of carried on. at least my submission would have fit the theme |
Well ENM, I do have an opinion on that matter (which I have not expressed) but NO, I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to the many people who seemed to hit minor inconveniences and then dropped out. Blaze's freakin motherboard crapped out on him but he's soldiering on. I was commending his spirit, not taking a backhanded swipe at anyone in particular.

due to the seriouse lack of use the RFU4 test server is being shut down. whenever you guys want to organize a proper test of ANY of these maps, just let me know, and ill start it back up. until then, ill be throwing whatever floats my boat into the rotation. always a good map on A1s |
