Is it any wonder it's crashing? 12695 faces???
5 holes?!!! Fix them

These need sorting out too.
If you're gonna take the pi$$ out of RED's limits then the least you could do is make sure the map is built solidly |

Have a look at those T-joints to, they can be hard for RED sometimes.
And Ferrit, that Opera map was run at CowBaby, and didn't lag me at all |
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. |

I was so proud when I created a 500+ brush map with 0 t-joints, 0 holes, and 0 ps2 faces. I hope my RFU4 map goes that smoothly. |
I have an itchy, irratable rash. It's RED. |

For those wondering, MrWizard hasn't even started yet and if he doesn't have a chance to soon, he will probably have to change back to his original idea and finish an existing map that was based on music too. I don't want to, but my chances to get into RED have been around the midnight to 2am hour and I'm generally pretty tired then.
As for the FTP, yes its up. Dankone, I'll send you the login info. For any others who wish to download the maps for testing, please IMS me.
Good work so far everyone. |

Hehe
A problem with my map...
I added buttons and triggers and play_sound events for in the record shop, but they don't work.. whenever i press the butto nothing happens... the sound files are in the VPP, and the triggers are all linked correctly |

what format did you convert the wav files in? i usually use 8bit-1100mhz(or closest you can)-mono. also, make sure the name of the audio file isnt too long. RF doesnt like long names. shorten them down to one word. like \"EXmap1\" |

hmm i fixed 4 holes but idk how i would fix the fifth one because usually i just vertex edit to get rid of the holes but this 1 doesnt have a vertex anywhere near it... and for the ps2's... idk where they are... i originally had 131 but i changed something which brought it down to 61 but that didnt make any diff with the crashing.. will beinging it down more make any diff? |

Now I know why you go over the limits
If I ever get a hole I usually delete the offending brush and try it again differently. There is a long-a$s way of finding Ps2's:
Any large face that has a highly repeated texture on it, increase the size of the texture tiling and rebuid. If the ps2's don't change then move onto another face... |

My map (DM-RFU4-SPACEWALTZ) is ready for testing but not uploaded to ftp yet. It's based on the scene from the movie 2001 where the shuttle docks with the space station and Straus' Blue Danube Waltz is the only thing the viewer can hear. |

Thanks to Lace I found this forum. I have a few maps just sitting around, and one of which was inspired by a song... For Whom The Bell Tolls by Metallica. I ran out of ideas for finishing it, but maybe I'll give another shot at it to finish it.
A good idea for this theme would be a concert map, having different bands playing, and building instruments sitting around, and having a bunch of different effects... |

I thought the map had to be inspired by music, not be a map which happens to contain music. Im quite confused now. |
