This sounds rather interesting to me, a glass pack with all different size planes to use as a mod in red faction, intriguing.
But anyone gonna do something about the Volume Light object effect "4x4, Volume Light BIG" objects, we only have light blue, there should be other colors, neon red, neon green, neon purple, light neon green, ect, and with smaller sizes.
We also need lots more transparent textures or someone to do a texture pack and make it available on L4Y except when I tried to download files from L4Y I keep getting 944 kb HTML file download and not getting the binary download of the actual file and don't know why....
We need see through chains hanging down in maps both straight or loopy to give it that metallic look, we need spider's webs in caves to add more depth and realism in maps, and anything else that is see-through. I have the textures, but don't know how to make them transparent and if I did I would be making those changes right now to get more see-through textures, as I don't have psp 7 or photoshop. |

Well, moving glass in RF is something special. It is not only glass that can be moved...ANY 32bit texture would then move around, not only the non transparent textures. (glass doors, grating elevators etc.)
These volume lights are an interesting thing as well.
Tip
If you are able to create your own textures, then it will be no problem for you to change the colors of the volumetric light objects by telling them to "swap_texture" by event.
Create the volumetric light in your level. Browse to events/xxx (Modify?)/swap texture and create that.
Link the event to the cobject. Open the properties of the event and type in a new texture name (texture1)
When the event is activated by a trigger or keyframe(->multiplayer), it will change the skin of the linked object(s)
This is possible on every clutter object, you can even make it swap the textures every second..to create animated textures or some nice effects. |

Thanks for that little tip Red Frog.
Oh ! tried what you said, , it only changed the edges of the volumetric light object and not the whole thing, it only changed half the skins on living entities, but changed the barrels ok.
But we need more see-through textures. We have some (default by the editor) But NOT enough. I do have Ulead photo Express, that might support transparency, I'll have to check it out. |
