Any idea how to get detail brushes, such as glass, to stay detail when a keyframe is added to the group that it's in?

Being a pretty n00b mapper, I'm gonna make a stupid suggestion that will most likely get me flamed.

Why not fuse the Detail glass brush to the brush of whatever is in the group? I dunno. I'm a ch00b (worse than n00b)

I wont flame ya but it will still end up part of the group and therefore gain the saem properties.

You cannot have transparent or semi-transparent keyframed groups

i did...lol in the map i plan on releasing this weekend i made two boxes with clear texture that most people use on open levels so that the player wont fall off the level... i set them as movers and they work fine..though u can shoot through them it worked for what i was doing.
We will be known by the tracks we leave behind

yes invisa textures can be on movers and they'll stay clear but glass and semi transparent textures wont

heres a thought.....is it possible to make a texture(custom) and give it the invis_prefix, but make it not invisible? ie. take the invis texture thats already in red, and say put a gloss/shine over it, so it kinda looks like its a glass/reflective surface.?
that would be kewl. although, youd still be able to shoot through it with any weapon. but...the look would be right(ish).

i believe killiads method was to get an object/clutter item that had glass as part of a mover, and that remained transparent. but hell, KILLIAD is the man, he probably has figured out how to do it.

Yeah I think it's a visor that someone wears.. there is a texture for it somewhere... never tried it, never tried to find it

We worked on it together and it actually works. I made it, and did the TBL adjustments, and we tested it together. It actually works.

you just need to make a Face in 3Ds Max the size you want, texture it with the Glass texture. Export it as a V3D, add the file to RED as a mod (not possible in normal RF unless you want to overwrite another object) and voila! you can even make it shatterable.

If anyone wishes I can whip one up quick like. I was using it for a train level I was making once, for all the windows.

so you cant have moving glass in standard RF?
you have to tweak the tables?

Damn, because that would be neat.. keep in mind that getting people to download mods is harder than getting them to download maps.. which means if you make such a mod.. that would draw away 10% of rf players to play this mod.. and therfore would result in RF being less played.. to keep the game going we need to make some really good RF maps.. and if you have to mod to do that.. well then that sucks

Would be hugely useful but it's just not faesible

It's a shame decals don't show on movers either otherwise you could get round it this way

Mad_Ferrit. I believe Pickles told me that a Face object as part of a mover can be Transparent. I never looked into it.
