I think it is weird that he seems to know all about these Colorbots that have never been used by the public.
First how do you know they have never been used by the public. And if they havent ever been used by the public then were did you or trotskie get them. |

They're quite easy to spot, thats how we know
For the last month, Trot and Digi & I have been deep into RF and the way it works. As a result, Things are found and explored. Having said that, We would never under any circumstances use them to our advantage in a game or match. |

People must be totally retarded when they are using colorbots in games such as Red Faction. (and shooters in general)
They should switch over to playstation games which have aimlocks if they are liking it better that way. |

Thats why i hate the Playstation cause of aim locks....i always get confused cause it kepts on aiming at the guy iam not wanting to shoot.....i think that aiming normally is alot more better....and make it even funner remove the cross hair and center the gun |

Yes - colorbots have been used by the public in all forms of games. They're quite widespread and hard to protect against. They've been outright rampant in the rather small clan scene during the last 2-3 years of this game's lifespan. It's rather difficult to get one working half decently with RF, but with a little knowledge and the right knowhow, you can use one to achieve a much better rail shot with little to no skill.
I've not come across a single colorbot that has worked with regular weapons however. Only the rail, thanks to its retarded scanner. Regardless, a colorbot in RF that worked with regular weapons to the best of its capacity would still most likely be rather piss poor in comparison to half decently aiming RF player.
Also, just to clear up any confusion - the rail scope has _not_ been changed for aesthetic reasons. The point of the edit is that an enemy shown in the rail scope is never the same, consistant, RGB color as it was before. It's constantly changing, thus no colorbot could ever be configured in such a fashion as to be effective. |
You say you have never come across a single colorbot thats works very good, I guess the next question is why have you tried so many in the first place.
I can say that I myself have never tried any and have never looked for them in the first place. I have played people that seemed to have a more than humanlly possible ability to kill but can not say for sure if they were using any kind of cheat even though I suspect they may have been.
All I hope is pure faction works the way they say it will and we will see if all of a sudden these so called great players are still great.
P.S. You guys seem to know for sure that the colorbot usage is used alot in RF, how do you know? Is there a way to tell? |

We test cheats in private to see their power to find out how to recognize and/or block them. Harmless.
Some people are good, The entire frag4^ clan was accused of cheating as some time or another. Now it's obvious that they never have and never will cheat, but people keep accusing them because they are genuinely good at the game.
When PF is released, We will be sure of which players were cheating and which are good. Cheats are disallowed in PF. |

Some people use cheats to see what the opposition could be using against them. Some then keep using them because they assume everyone else is so it is in their mind a fair game again. Some are just CENSORED s |

I've been playing RF since 2003 and have run many servers, and I have never had to kick anyone for using a rail cheat other than rapid fire. Usually when people complain, they're getting their butts kicked by some of the premier players out there and can't believe people can be accurate with the rail.
I guess we'll find out if any other those top players are no longer as good as they once were, when Pure Faction is released. I don't think that will be the case, but we'll see. |

Cool, but doesnt the cheater have to run pure faction in order for his cheats to be disabled? Or are we talking about running a server in PF and any cheaters cheats won't work? |

But then again you don't exactly have any competitive knowledge whatsoever, nor have you any large exp in the clan scene of this game since 2003. As I said, these were never large issues in public servers - rather they are huge, splitting problems in the clan scene of the game.
For clarification purposes, very few of the game's "premier" players ever actually used the rail, or even considered it a form of skill. In essence, the rail itself requires the absolute least skill of the 3 large aiming forms. (Hitscan, Tracking, and Projectile). The rail in this game has mostly been abused by lesser players in order to make up for their outright lack of in-game knowledge and/or aim.
Abit offtopic sorry, but I'm tired of this "railing = skill" myth. |
Hey "Nick", I don't know you, only heard your name mentioned in the last month on this site, so I'm not sure exactly what your competetive knowledge is, nor do I care, I just gave my opinion from someone who's been playing the game and running servers since 2003.

Ok. The BETA is 99% complete. I need to do some final testing with my beta testers, then it can go onto the site. However it has got to 4.33 am  and its going to have to be tomorrow. I know i've already said tomorrow, but its for real this time  |

I agree with trump. You're out of line when you say using the rail means that players have no skill, aim, or common sense. Somebody here is full of it.  It takes more coordination and precision to use a single shot weapon rather than spraying a gun all over the place... Which i'm sure you are used to as you probably use the HMG all the time?
Everyone should agree that the chance to hit something is alot less when you are using a single shot as opposed to 30-99 shots to hit...
Youre probably the type of player who complains when they die by the same person using the same weapon repeatedly. I bet alot of the following come from you:
"percision rifle is for n00bs."
"you suck, the rail driver is a n00by weapon"
"the fusion is a n00b weapon, u n00b"
"stop using the baton and use a real weapon n00b"
"stupid shotgun n00b"
I could be wrong, but your little comment about rails bothered me. so thats what I have to say about the subject. |

That's probably true, because since, IMO, the rail is hardest weapon to master and you generally learn the others first and become proficient at them. |

I got Red Faction straight off the shelfs as soon as It had arrived here in 2001.. But only playing single player, LAN and using RED mostly.. and multiplayer was cool.. Even on dialup I could whip people behinds.. Even the most competitive CTF players I could defeat using just the rail alone.. ( I think because dialup lagging.. I had better chances with the rail by killing the enemy easily a few seconds before they kill you) ( this involved some camping tactics, but was gauranteed frag.. )
It's the saddest thing that all the rude arrogant players like frag4 can't begin to fathom the brilliance of the rail, they can only cry and whinge about it and spawnkill as their only possible option ( wow how skillfull ) 
These days the lag is just too unbearable.. Every few seconds I freeze and can't shoot and usually when I can move again I'm already dead.. ( Is very annoying when you can't stand a chance to capture the flag .. because you freeze every few seconds.. ) (( Might need to make a map with the flags very close apart ))  |
