i too have tested all of the above mentioned maps, and have a few things to report myself. first BABOOM plays beautifully on my pc, and the music is very clear throughout the level. i did however still see the same texture glitches in the blue carpeted hallways. no big deal i guess. DAFT DAFT played very well for me as well. there is a space in the name, which makes it hard to load into server assist for dedicated servers. i suggest you take the space out of the name. that\'ll solve that. also, YEAH...please add the name and author to the level properties. i wouldnt want the organizers here to have to go through everyones maps to make sure they are all named properly. with that said....it is quite an amazing map.(does it have ANYTHING to do with music....i dont think so)

other than the music playing in the background, and a few spinning brushes with the name of the band playing, there doesnt seem to be anything to fit the theme. (sorry WASA. SUPERB map tho) now for EXOs\' map... this map needs alot of attention. no spawn points-weak push regions-and it really needs something to tie it all together into a playable map.( might i suggest adding a low grav effect?) that would probably make the song chosen not work so well( i can think of others by that band that would fit nicely), but the gameplay would greatly improve. id be more than happy to show you how to do the low grav if you dont know, and if its something you might consider. with a little TLC, i think the gameplay for your design could be quite funn and frantic.
i hope i didnt pi$$ in anyones breakfast bowl here, but im being as honest and picky as i would want you all to be after testing my map. keep mapping people. still got PLENTY of time.

Ok I finally got Daft Daft to load on create server in RF, Very nice work ,but I have to agree with A1 , it really has nothin to do with Music, maybe if you changed the textures to more Music orientated sorta... ooh I dont Know, Its Just not MUSIC !, and Baboom also is only playable in the create in RF, on my dedi it loads slow and plays very laggy. Im sure I read on this forum somewhere that maps must be tested on RFSA4??
Any way one good thing My map dose'nt seem to hate A1 any more!

I will try to download all the maps today and test them.... As far as my map is concerned, thanks to A1 I have now sourced a texture that might enable me to finish the damn thing... It still sucks a bit peeps, I just aint had the motivation to map on it as it's not quite how I wanted it to turn out But I've re-built it 5 or 6 times, I'll be damned if I'm doing that again

Mine will not be included, rared it up today and it is 6.47mb and not even 1/4 done, no chance i can keep it under 10 in its present form, and i dont feel like restarting again, I will carry on with the map and release it seperately

Just go easy on the custom textures... I don't know why some people create such huge files! It's not that hard... The actual contents of the map don't add a great deal to the filesize, lighting can do but not much. You can keep it under the 10 MB man, just go easy with the textures n stuff

as a quick fix for now, try this...open up all the custom textures that are in your map, and decide which ones you could cut back the detail on. like if your using say a custom carpet texture, and its a 256x256, cut it back to 128x128, and save it as a slightly different name, that way you can change it back if your not happy with the look. do this with all your custom textures, itll make a huge difference in the size in the end.

just so were clear...ive have known since shortly after hearing his name that it wasnt really referring to an angry rodent. but when ya feel like \"stickin it up\" someone, its always more fun to change the name to protect the innocent

Owkee I just tryed tot test 2 maps. the one from exostatic called: Exo, and the map from Wasa called: Daft Daft

To start with the map Daft Daft: It didn't work! When trying to play the map it doesn't even open up for me.
The Idea of an daft punk map sounds great!, so i openend it up in red to see how it looks, and if i could find what the problem is. I didn't see anything that I could think of causing this problem. Only thing i see is that the level containes 2 holes and 27 T-joints maybe this is what causes the problem. or maybe it are the 231 boltemmiters you have in there. It would be nice to figure out the problem, maybe its the same sort of problem I first had with ANGE's map.

And now about Exo's map:
I'm not sure whats going on here. But apart from music being in the map i don't see what this map has to do with music. And for the rest there isn't much to do in this level. There is one start point, no multiplayer respawns , and if you don't move tot the right from that point you'll just fall to death. If i do move to the right from the starting point i get onto a big solid brush that keeps bouncing me up. from there I can get to one brush lower, to not be able to get back after that.
I'm not sure if every comment made by others about the map were being a bit to nice. but this map is still far from being a good DeathMatch map, or in anyway fitting the theme music.
I'm just givving my opinion here, I dont want to put you down exo. but this is just how i think about your map.

Hehe no problem. I knew I was gonna get some pi$$ about it. It took me like 30 minutes. because basivcally I got pissed off with all my other ideas. because well, they sucked.


I added multi spawn points though... :S

And the music theme is the brushes are SUPPOSED to look like speakers

And yeah, I would like to spend a little time on this map.. or do a different one..

Back in RF... getting back into the swing of things!

I would encourage everyonme experiencing problems completing their maps to take a deep breath. We started this together and I'd like to see us finish it together.

ENM, take A1's advice and tinker with the custom textures. You can save a ton of space by making them smaller and for many textures you can't tell the difference in-game betweeen 64x64 and 256x256.

EXO, sounds like you're already working on the advice given you....and I'd encourage oyu to continue.....some great mappers are telling you how to make your map even better than it is.

MadFerrit: I know that you have extremely high standards for yourself but I'm confident you can make this happen. It would be a great loss not to see your map in the pack.


Folks: This may be the last hurrah for RF. Let's make this happen!

ok. with a shove in the right direction, i got EXO back on track to a playable map.
im still a bit confused about why people are having problems with the daft map. played very nice for me. the only problem i noticed with the map itself, was that there is a spa ce in the na me. that has no affect on it when you go to multi/create game tho. it will however need to be fixed to run on RFSA. but theres still the issue of it not having anything to do with music.......
hehehe cant wait to see what grims cooking up. his is still a mystery to me.
