it scan you'r Computer Every Second for over 30 things making sure you arnt doing any thing illegal (this Slows down you'r computer)

Vista Costs to much for the First Service pack (ranges from 250-450 Nz Dollars)

Bill Gates made it

And Not all Optical Scrolling mouses are compatible with it (Check the Box first it should have *Vista/xp x64/XP/Me/200/98 on most newer boxes)

Waiting waiting.... explanation?

I haven't used it personally but I know several people who have been driven crazy by it because they have had to reinstall it. They one reinstall and after that they need to buy a new copy. That was with an early release and some changes have been made since so I'm not sure if that is still the case. Also, you can't use one copy on more than one machine. AND, worst of all. Vista isn't game friendy... unless its a game made specifically for it.

Microsoft needs knocking off its perch.

Not entirely sure what you're smoking but... please... stop

It doesn't scan to check what you're doing. Think of the massive outcry of invasion of privacy this would create... the first I'm hearing of this is from you. So I'll smack this one down right now...

First service pack? Matey... there is no such thing. Not even announced yet. Probably wont be for a while yet.
I think you mean the initial version. Well yes.. here in the UK the pricing is almost 1:1 with that of the US pricing.

Now when the exchange rate is almost 2:1... we're being charged double for the same product. And they wonder why piracy is rife...

Bill Gates didn't make it. A team of hundreds/thousands of developers did. Gates doesn't have a great deal to do with actual development at all... he just runs the company.

If you're using a mouse that isn't at least Win98 compatible, chances are you're using a mouse thats either falling apart or not even optical. You need to upgrade anyway!

I've been using Vista since the Beta's... dont mind using it at all. I've got it on my PC at work for development and its perfectly stable. Everything works on it, CnC3 plays pretty well on it (considering its a work PC with a 1.8Ghz Althon, GF6200 its better than expected anyway) nothing has crashed on it since RC1... what more can you ask of it?

Prefer XP still however at home because its much more polished but these things take time. Wait for Vista SP1 and most/if not all of the little niggles will have been ironed out.

Actually, mouses that do NOT say they are compatible, I found a work around for it You have to go to properties and click RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR and also go to the "PERMISSION FOR USERS" and make sure every single one is clicked to allow full control for everyone. It's really retarded, but it works. I like the graphics for Vista but I don't like that "ALLOW OR CANCEL" for EVERYTHING, kinda funny how the commercial for PC/MAC made fun of it, (and I will say it again) IT IS TRUE!!!, but either than that, eh, it's ok

One great feature of Vista is if you are a parent, you can limit your children's games played on it by simply ticking the maturity rating of the types of games they can play.

I have Vista Business on a seperate machine and must say I do like it myself. I've so far no complaints really. One thing that does come to my mind though, when playing CounterStrike Source, there seems to be framerate loss. Not much, but from 160FPS average to about 144FPS average.

I mean, if you actually take a look back, the same thing happenned when Windows XP was released, noone wanted to switch from Windows 98se. Well, you just have to get used to it, like everyone got used to WinXP.

After reading Garner's take on Windows Vista, I am no longer afraid to install it. But I won't. When I decided to build another PC is when I will install Windows Vista.

Right now Windows XP is working fine for me. Except that Music Match(the older paid 7.5 version) doesn't want to work with the recent updates I have done. Maybe I need to reformat it or just paid for the newer version, which would be A LOT simpler.

I'm still using a PC with AGP slots and no PCI express, so you can see by today's standard, I have a dinosaur but it still lets me play and do what I need done. Surf for....CENSORED

Not bothering to read a lot of the post yet....

To who ever dought the fact.. the first service pack was released the same day (or was it finished devolepment in the same day forgot what that news artical said have to look it up) that vista officialy hit stor shelvs (going to find this artical if it kills me

now on to my questions

question one: sence you'v had vista, exaclt how stable would you say it is? (scal of one to ten one being never crashes, ten being crashes as long as my eyes are open)

question two: is it posable to install and play old dos based games without have to install third party software? (games like quake one, doom one, castle wolfinstine, and deer hunter one.... yes i ackuly own the retail cd's of thes games)

one more thing... being that i used to work for a net working company, i'm going to tell everyone the secret to updateing to a new operating system. never by a new operating systen untill the first service pack is released (it's an IT thing IT people aer finicy about security) or in vista's case service pack two. now here is a problem with that theiry, if every one fallows this unspockin rull and every one weighted, then who would there be to test (hack) the operating system in the first place to even envok a need for MS to devolep a service pack in the first place?......

I do not understand how anyone can use vista... It looks nice by graphics, but would that not eat up your speed of the computer? Transparent windows, Visual effects and stuff. If you went over board by opening so many things at once, I recon on a computer with Athlon XP Processor, 1GB RAM, 128MB graphics card, its bound to crash.

The thing that really gets to me is that one of the CEO's from microsoft is personally blaming the poor sales of Windows Vista on those who Pirated the copy of it.
I could say that he is about 25% correct on that, but the 75% that he is wrong is the percentage of those who have tried Vista, and have warned Thouands of people on forums not to get it because its not very good or Stable enough.

It is as if Microsoft Think their product is so perfect, its working. Bet you every microsoft building has Windows Vista upgrades. They are all hating it, and Bill Gates is sitting in his office admiring it like a second wife!

Simple as this! don't like it, don't Buy it, I personally wont use it due to the ongoing security crap XP SP2 is bad enough, and yes NCF I cant get my old Music Match to work either, with XP's new updates , MM was/is the greatest mp3 player/ripper ever!

I'm happy with windows XP. It works perfect and i handle it.
AFAIK, there is no interesting new feature in vista.

It just pisses me off thinking i will have to get used to Vista next time i'll buy a new computer as it will be bundled with it

I agree. I was my number one choice for ripping music from my CDs. Now I use windows media and I am not happy about it.

My dad has a copy of Vista on a laptop at home ... it seems ok ... i like the way it shows hard drive space, especially since our computers are networked, now i can see what space i have on each computer just by clicking "My computer" ...

But the totally ripped off the Mac OS X style ...

I just don't like windows media center ... that blows, at least untill they fix it anyway, when i tried it out, it was messed up ...
