I'm at a great disadvantage due to my hardware, but I still think that actually getting a specialized mouse or whatever to be able to make the game/pc think you click twice for only one click is cheating.
Fawk, I can speak for sure about advantages and disadvantages, but I hardly whine about my hardware being crap. I know it is, and I do the best I can and I still come out pretty decent, without having to go to the extent of using any mods or getting specialized mouses that shoot a gazillion times for one click. So take that, and kiss my abacus-of-a-PC!  |

Well said. RF is the only game that can run well on my Comp anyway, so I'm pretty gratefull ping or no ping. |

Doesn't happen to me when I play other people who are servers. AVPU for example. |

Oh, on the Whole Cheat thing, I'd like to say people who modify to get the upper hand are not generally bums, but show lack of understanding of why we play RF.
Me? I've recently used a few 'Two Fingers' bashing techniques myself, but I can'y grip the Mouse. Should I stick tape on my hand to keep it secure? Or is that considered Modding? |

Ahh. just saw this topic 
The switching weapons goes as allan explained, simply by hotkeys.
I've got a hotkey set for.. 5 weapons, it gives a big advantage.
With it I can indeed shoot the rail first, switch it before reload, and shoot again with it by messing around with they hotkeys. I found out by accident that if you switch around quick enough and press r between the switches, you get an instant reload on the weapon. It's.. switch, r, switch back, r, switch back or something, then it's reloaded. Dunno exactly, it just goes as I play. You don't wait out the reloads in that, all steps go quickly.
Allan saw it a few times when we played yesterday, I used the rail as I described above.
Ye could call it cheating.. I didn't modify anything outside of what the game allows, it's just evil glitching.
*edit*
I forgot to add, glitching the reload is harder when you're the one hosting the game, gotta be a client for it to work smoothly. Atleast, that's how it seems to me  |

I would call abusing game faults & glitches, to gain an advantage, cheating. The problem is, I cannot name more than ten players who are considered good which do not do this type of thing.
As Winnetou probably noticed, I am at a distinct disadvantage when playing, just because I refuse to hotkey in that fashion. It's not that I can't do it, I use keys to do other stuff like talk on ventrilo, etc. with no problems. I just think it's a majorly lame way to play, and you might as well download clickalot if you're gonna play like that.
The worst part of it is the bullets which it causes which you do not see and should not kill. Yesterday I was killed by what I can only guess was a rocket. I only saw one rocket fired, it missed me by miles. One second later, dead.
Another problem is hotkeying itself is fair play, the problem is it glitches, people know this, and abuse it to their advantage. Or occasionally don't know this, and wonder why they get called cheater every second game they play.
@skiprat - You're right aim does count for a lot, however what if the good aimers start lamely using click apps? For everyone who has seen me kill with my slow [Censored] two bullet a second guns, imagine if I could fire like all these 'drummers' without losing any aim at all.
I have met many an RF 'god' who I am willing to sum up as skill-less with one exception, their click challenges me. It's blatently obvious these guys are sucky players yet they are considered elite because they mastered (bs) drumming. |

Man if I do that I will be giving you a free kill. You are already a skill player. But just to prove you wrong I will do it then kick you to take away that kill. You are free to join again as it will only be a kick and not a ban.
As far as the AVPU thing goes, all I can see is that she is a very nice person that wouldn't hurt a fly, unless that fly's name was Stu_Pidaso. But you aren't the first to accuse me of that. Maybe it's the router brand I have. I have a new router but it's the same brand as the previous one(LINKSYS). It can't be the computer as I got accused of it back when I only had a P3 866Mhz.

Yeah I agree that my Ping/PC/Location argument is complete BS, RJ. That's why I posted it. I was comparing it to your lame "cheating because you are giving yourself an advantage that other players do not have." argument. 
Let's review shall we? IAC posts that he uses a laptop with a built in mouse. Obviously that's not the best suited to FPS games so he has added a USB mouse.
With this set up his built in mouse still works and he can use both mice to fire as long as he moves his hand away from the WASD keys.
You call that an unfair advantage? For a start he's hitting a button for every shot he fires so it hardly seems unfair and secondly it doesn't even seem like an advantage. In fact having such a complicated set up that doesn't even allow you to move while firing seems like a distinct disadvantage.

The game wasn't designed to be played on a Nvidia 6800 OC either. Actually there is that whole Nvidia wall peeking bug as well so we might as well call all Nvidia card owners cheats too. Unless we all decide to play on P2 400 MHz systems with 64 MB RAM and 8 MB vid cards on 56k, then everyone is going to have a different system and style of playing.
So I'm afraid IAC, RJ has spoken. You've managed to develop a style of play that gives you a big disadvantage but it's official now. You are a cheat. 
Or RJ, you could just stop going around accusing others of cheating. |

I don't use the nvidea wall glitch. I used to when I thought it was a part of the game. Once I realized that it was actually a glitch that only users of NVIDEA cards could do, I stopped doing it....because it's cheating. It's an unfair advantage against people using ATI cards.
See, that's the thing. It's a personal code of honor to not deliberately do things to give myself an unfair advantage.

See here, we have him bragging about how he hooked up an extra mouse so that he can shoot both triggers and "fire really fast." He's admitting that he's rigged a second trigger for the explicit purpose of being able to fire faster than other players.,,,he then seeks our empathy because he has been "unfairly" accused to cheating for doing this.
TMINE, we've been over this in various ways for a while now...and your position on this issue doesn't have a logical foundation. You seem to start from the position that you happen to like the people doing these things so you stretch and twist to find a way to justify their conduct.
I'm coming from the opposite position. I believe that friends speak the truth to each other. I happen to really like DVL_IAC...but rigging two triggers is cheating. I'm not going to pretend otherwise because I like the person doing it.
All of us could do versions of these things. We all could use software mods in a heartbeat. Many of us could use hardware mods. The reason we don't is that some reasonable sense of fair play restrains us. We implicitly understand that pressing every advantage available to us isn't fair...and isn't even fun. Many of the folks we play with are young men and women. They are in that stage of their lives when they are testing their abilities, defining themselves, learning to be mature human beings. I think we aid them in that process by setting clear community standards of conduct. |

IAC played me on shadow's map with that lil setup and i asked how he could shoot so fast.he said he wasn't modding but then he told me the mouse thing.i'm like "well u modified how ur shooting so therefore it's a mod!" he deinied the fact. |
