did they kill the master server for red faction today? and if the7y did is there any way to join a game just through a servers ip.

Nope the master server is just down, it happens alot. It will be back up in like a day. There is a way of joning a server you click on the add server button and add the servers IP adress.
EDIT - Wow just looked and the master is still down... Maybe THQ did fianly pull the plug on Red Faction... O what a sad day in most of the people here on L4y's lives....  |

As Shadow said this happens from time to time.
The master server was down for nearly a week before and it still came back up. On that occasion it was the fires in California and the disruption they caused to power lines that knocked out the master server. Now, right at the moment they are having some pretty extreme weather in California right? Flash floods, mudslides, people killed, etc. so maybe that has something to do with.

YES, The server is down again! But, you can add server ips manually! just click:
Multi
Join Game
Click on Lan only
Click on Add Server --->Server Ips  |

It has been brought to my attention that the ip's in my post are dynamic and may have changed! thx to Nitro?  try it still but i cant guarantee anything! ELIOOO is CRAZED!  |

lol a mud slide probably covered the THQ HQ and crushed all the server pc's and THQ lost everything so RF is gone forever.. or a flood washed it all away never to be found again.. |

When THQ do ditch RF, which I doubt is happening now, I'm sure they will be willing to unload the default master server domain.
What is the default domain?
Ok scratch that - rf.thqmultiplay.net
When thq dies, I'm sure they will be willing to part with that domain. |

no need for concern coz MATCH has already written (& successfully run for a week at the time of the CA fires) an Alternative Game Tracker Master Server Progy . . which Garner also said L4Y would run if THQ ever pulled the plug . . so NP then
tho i'm damned if i know why L4Y don't just leave it running in the background (there'd be no bandwidth used, till THQ crashed) . . or at least have it Ready to Run with the link (L4Y RF Tracker:) always somewhere at the top of the RF main page
how easy is that . . next |

I did have a RF tracker on the secondary L4Y server... but it was a test version hosted to provide feedback for Hermit (think it was Hermit who created it anyway... memory isn't too clear on who it was )
Not sure if I still have the program, or if there was a newer version created.

Still got it... I have absolutely NO idea if it works or how stable it is. But if you change your master tracker to

Thats where its currently residing.
I'll be contacting Hermit ASAP to determine how stable it turned out to be or if there is indeed a newer version but for the moment, can someone see if it works? That'll be super lol

Nope, was Hermit. I had his running on L4Y testing when Match released his. I remember at the time thinking I know of two community made ones 
I dont think Hermit ever made it public that he made one. |
