did you shut it down all together? because i now i get nothing but the querying master server message. 
theres gotta be a way to get it to work right?
anyone out there know what to do? or have any ideas on what we can try? please...dont be shy. speak up, and tell us. you will be a hero, if you come up with something.  (well mine anyways)  |

No its not shut down relax... few days it will be back up.go through a foot ball or play with your girl friend. Think of it as THQ appreciation week,lol

Well, I've really been looking forward to playing a good game of RF. But, according to the chain of events, I don’t think RF wants to work anymore. At the least, for a little while. By the way how many people do you think still play RF? I know I try to get all my fiends to play. But, I hope there does not come a time when there are not enough people on the servers that they do really shut down the RF Master Server. |

This is just what I got back in my most recent email from THQ.
We're working on the server problems right now. Please try again on Monday.
So I guess we are running through the ip system till then. |

The cost of running the RF master server to a company like THQ is negligible. Especially in comparison to the PR disaster it would be to shut it down while there were still people playing it. THQ have some massive PC games coming up. Well they have S.T.A.L.K.E.R. anyway.
It's one thing to not actively support what was really a cult game to begin with and one that is now 4 years old. It's another thing completely to withdraw the master server to a game that is still played.
If and when the game tracker is withdrawn I'd expect it to be preceded by an announcement by THQ's PR department. The last thing they want is a small but vocal minority spreading word of THQ's lack of ongoing support of it's products to anybody who will listen.
They're not stupid when it comes to what's in their own interests and it can't have escaped their attention that two of the most popular PC games in recent years have been UT and Half Life. Two games that were given great support by the companies who made them.
To drop the RF master server now, while there is still a fair few players and in this manner would be THQ cutting their own throats in terms of their wider reputation.
That's my opinion anyway. I'll probably keep this opinion until unless somebody can tell me something different.
In the mean time, this isn't the longest the master server has been down. It was down for longer, what? A year ago? Less?
One of my 1st memories of L4Y was of the tracker being for a short while and doing a google search for what was going on. Way, way before I ever signed up here. This ain't a new thing.  |

Well if i was THQ,the easiest way to see if its worth carrying on running the master server was to close it down for a week or so,and see how many people complained,they probably have set a limit of under 1000 complaints to close it for good,over 1000 keep it running.

It listed 40 running servers. Much easier than entering IP's manually. And he updates everyday it seems. |

Are we sure the plug hasn't been pulled? I can't remember it ever been down for this long. Maybe they decided they have got all the revenue they are gonna get from this game now (it is over 4 years now) and wan't us all to buy some new games??? I really hope I am wrong.
