Btw skvlad01, I love your sig Folding is something everyone should do ^^

As far as a "budget gaming" system. Under $1,000 serves that purpose...

Crysis is AWESOME. By far best shooter ever made.

And nitro, actually never heard you whining about your own hardware.
Change the VGA fans if your cards suck THAT much..

The whole reason I got the 280s is because they look awesome ;-) Wouldn't want to ruin that with a different cooler. I think my problem is airflow in the case, the top GPU gets blazing hot and the one under it is 20-30C cooler.

Just got my new motherboard today!!! I upgraded from an EVGA 750 to an EVGA 790 DIgital FTW
Got it straight from EVGA for $180 a/r I'll have to changed to DDR3, but I really don't think the prices are that high. I guess maybe compared to DDR2. Madcat, don't you remember the days when a 512 stick of DDR 2100 was $200? I don't mind paying $80 for 4G of super fast DDR3

You made a great choice in motherboards there Nitro for an good SLi setup.

If I may ask though, why are you getting a DDR3 board for Core2 series? Just curious since DDR2 performs faster than DDR3. (Will perform much better I would assume on Core i5 due to the memory controller)

Lol! I do remember. I remember back in the day ,bringing back my newly purchased 200 dollar 128mb stick, and being so careful to put it in. Hilarious!
Its really nice to see the prices become affordable. I think i paid 39 bucks for my 2 sticks of Corsair Dominator. I might have to go get two more, and make it 4g just for the hell of it.
skvlad01 ,whats up with your poll? Are you trying to win a contest or something? I would take it ,but it seems kind of pointless. A good reason might attrack some more hits.

I would like to refer you to this article by AnandTech, AMD Phenom II X4 940 & 920: A True Return to Competition

Please do keep in mind, Core i7 is still good, BUT, only shows reasonable performance for price when you go tri-SLi(3 physical cards). That is, where it shines

That article, for my purpose in showing you, is not for showing the AMD Phenoms, as, well, let's face it, they aren't that great lol.

Multiple graphics card support for one computer.
Theres now also integrated SLI support on single graphics cards with multiple GPU cores.

Just like with CPUs.
There are (old) solutions with 2 CPUs for one mainbard and now the new CPUs have multiple cores in one. (dual, quad core)

ATI calls their multi gpu solution Crossfire.

PhysX looks pretty cool, but it's nothing to really get excited about. I don't think it'll be around for long. Other companies have tried similar things and it never seemed to catch on.

I think PhysX will last for a while, but become more integrated into the hardware side of things instead of software in the future.

Like nowdays if you use 2 cards, 1 older and 1 newer you can run your game on say.... a GTX 280 and PhysX on an 8800GT that is sitting in the 2nd PCI-E slot without doing SLi. This actually brings better performance in games that require PhysX.

I'm not so sure about that..earlier DDR3 wasn't very good but it's come a long way now. The OCZ ReaperX runs 1333 at cas 6. Maybe the 790 doesn't take advantage of the ram as much as the X58 chip but I wanted to at least take a step forward. In a year, DDR2 will be pretty much gone, maybe we'll start hearing about DDR4. Heck, with the SSD drives coming on, why even bother with ram anymore? Who knows what the future will hold. I was going to get a 780 until I saw the price on this 790, now I'll have the ram when I upgrade to an X58/core i7 next month
