Ok wow I've done something, each limb can have its own hitbox. This would give very realistic hitzones. Not sure about performance draw.

It means that they had both Super Armor & Super Health OR they had one of those and they got hit in the leg. Its a litle mistake... not a glitch or bug. The rail only does... 587 damage in multi but 2550 in single.... It's a little stupid, but its how RF multi was made for some strange reason...

Funny - This bug is solved by a simple serverside mod putting the damage multi on the rail >1000

Yes a very good bugfix. Fix bugs by increasing damage.

Hey the HMG has a bug, it does too much damage, we've got to fix it!

I think it is indeed. You can survive to a rail shot if you have 200 armor and 200 health.
It sometimes happen that you survive with no armor but it's not proven that it's due to the location you were hit

You're lending RF virtues it might not have.

I'm not sure you do more dammage in RF when you hit the head.

I also often hit and do no harm,
I often reach the flag first (from client point of view) and don't get it because someone, who suposedly was behind me, got it first.
I often realize that certain players are easier to hit than other. Why.? They don't move less strangely (actually the moves you can perform in RF are limited: forward, backward, left, right). And those players don't move in straight line

A railgun shot on the midbody of a player which has 200 200 should always be survived because the railgun doesn't do enough damage. You should test it..
When aiming on the legs he will survive even better .

I'm not sure how it would fair on Unreal Engine 2.5, but on Source each model has roughly 10 hit boxes; two for each limb, one for the head, and I believe two for the torso.

Nice. This is just how a modern game should be working. I always believed UT2004 used the karma shapes for the hitboxes and never went into testing it But this is one of the important things, because its all of shooting and damaging. hehe
My model now has 10shapes as well. Extra shapes for hands and foots would be too much I think

Hit detection has really taken some huge leaps forward since Source was released. Aside from hit boxes there are a few other 3D collision detection techniques that may work with UT2004 (such as per-pixel detection), with some effort, of course. It may be worth your time to look into a few of these for the next Mars Wars release; sorry I can't provide a link.

1- RF have different DMG resistance between (Head, Body+Arms & Legs) You can see theses value in entity.tbl, search for $Collision Sphere:, first number is ratio for single, second for multiplayer. I have change & test theses value for Xmod and I can guaranty that they work well.

2- Some time (rarely), when players have too much difference between connection, the lag & some packet loss can cause even blood hit and target had never receive DMG in the server. Also, with original RF settings, players can be hit between legs, each side of the head (count as a Head shot) and half upper head doesn't receive DMG (for miner1, Parker Envirosuit).

Seperate hitshapes were used in Solider...(cencored game?) 2. which is pretty old now. And this for sure is can't be the only game.
Those hitzones are nothing big, they are not hard to do, all MW chars now have them and I made it in less than an hour for testing reeasons.
It is now much harder to hit enemies, actually any weapon recoil is too much.
UT2004s simple hitzones were made up for fair competitions and not for realism.

lol in Half Life2 it takes a while to kill someone with the assault rifle, or probably it's a very weak weapon, or its the hitzones (All half life 2 weapons but the gravgun online are excersive rubbish IMO anyway. There is no throughout weapons layout, it's all made up of the singleplayer weapons without further thinking. Red Factions weapons, though make sense to me. The Revolver, Crossbow and Rocket Launcher are nearly all the type of weapon, one shot one kill. There is no need to reply on this statement..)

Yeah, I have to admit. RF has the best weaponset of any game ive ever played. the weapon balance is almost perfect. Gameplay is nailed down perfect. I wouldnt like parker if he moved around more like gordon... Also I espically wouldnt like him if he was another dammned silent protagonist.

Characters are the meat of a story, if the main character runs around following orders, doing amazing things, etc with no personality whatsoever. its crap. HL2 is crap because gordon doesnt say a damn thing. he is like a selfless, thoughtless, killing machine thats being controlled by someone or something. He has no feelings toward any situiation at all. I bet if there was a button on top of the tallest tower on the tallest mountian at the very top guarded by the 'big boss' he would go up there and press the button even if it blows up the planet.

what a piece of CENSORED .

HL2's arsenal on the other hand feels like it was created by someone with a bad case of ADD or something. pistol, 2 ar, guided rockets, superheated crossbow, magnum, grenades, shotgun, crowbar. mabye some i missed but the weapons are so inconsistant. if theres one weapon I espically dislike, it would be the crossbow. its so out of place.


hmm, guess i forgot this thread was about marswars. So, on topic i guess. Great mod. I just want support for all the default game modes and maps then mars wars would be better.

LOL! ... I was just thinking the same thing, Parker doesn't say much either, hes just a ultor killing machine

Maybe in a few cutscenes he argues, but he always caves in and does what hes told

I agree with some nice weapons, I suggest you... everybody in fact, that didn't see Killzone on PS2, to look closely the feel, sound, look and gameplay with alternate fire, in particular for the 'Assault Riffle' with 1 Shotgun shell add-on, awesome About balancing weapon for RF, personally, him very not convinced!

I reply also to let Mars Wars stay longer in Hot Topics because REDFROG done a nice Job with vocation, one more little year to wait and Red Faction 3 will soon knock to ours doors
