I voted for Other FPS games...I could recreate a Runescape type map...

after perusing all the various options i thought the one that gave the most mapping scope, and therefore offered the most variety of ideas, was public places. With that theme in mind you could create maps of your local takeway, library, school, music hall, bus stop. in fact the list is endless.. anyway that the public could congregate would be deemed a "public place"

only thing wrong with poll is that ppl can vote more than once

Oh no!!!, thats the same problem as we had last RFU!

this is really concerning. Anyone can push his vote to the front this way

Well unfortunately, its a glitch of the system. The normal poll works much in the same way. So Ferrit, whether I posted on the CDC or here in a forum, it wouldn't have made a difference. We have to depend on the honesty of others. If its obvious that someone stuffed the ballot box, we'll make arrangements to pick a theme another way. Just not sure what that way is yet.

The poll looks pretty normal at the moment.

The only other thing to do MrWizard is make a Forum thread and have everyone post a one/two word answer with their pick and tally them up. Any other posts would be deleted. That is if the normal poll system looks tainted.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems but it will sure annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

It's a good idea on paper, but how many times are we gonna have to vote for this?
I wanna get mapping, not sit around clicking polls n the such

I find it difficult to believe that we've had 75 votes since the start of the Poll What do you reckon?

If i vote in the timesplitters poll on the side of this page i get: "Sorry, but it appears you already voted this poll.
You can vote only once per poll!"

Because i voted allready, why not make a poll like that for RFU?

edit: I agree with that_ferrit that i want to start mapping and don't want to stay busy for to long with polls.

I'd have to get permission to change the site poll from Garner. Something I'm not entirely sure he'd be willing to do.

And the site poll isn't foolproof either. It works off IPs. If you log onto L4Y from more than one location, you'll be able to vote more than once.

And I agree, I don't want to be held up with polls. I'd rather be mapping, because it will probably take awhile for me to finish my map.

At the moment, it appears that Music and Other Games are tied for 1st place with Cartoons in a distant 2nd, and [bronze]Holidays[/bronze] in [bronze]3rd[/bronze].

but who would go the distance of going on a diff comp to vote for RFU4?it'd be very unlikelyt as appose to ppl voting from their own comp several times in a couple of minutes.

I am pretty sure it is something he\'d be willing to do!!! We have put a lot of time and effort and resources into these RFU map-packs and although they are for the benefit of the Red faction community, they are also projects managed from Levels4you and contributed to by levels4you members for levels4you members. I think it would have been the least that could have been done for RFU4! Garner, being the ever so reasonable chap that he is, would have willingly obliged to having a main site poll for this. The previous RFU map packs were very big news here at l4y and this one should be the same IMO.

I will requote myself here....

Can we have a special site poll set up that could encompass all of the suggested ideas? Cheers Garner

Something that was overlooked it would seem

It\'s probably too late for all this now but hey, I think someone should check the poll to see if there has been any obvious cheating going on, prior to the release of the theme. I still find it difficult to believe it has had that many votes already!! Have you cross referenced to see how many votes were polled last time? It's not as if the game has grown in popularity enough to make a huge difference on the number of voters.

Thank you

Look in the last thread and tally up what each mapper said that they wanted to map in RFU4.

Mappers are doing the work they should choose not everyone and their brother.

The mappers are the one that have to be inspired to create.

Then lets just get going.

Yeah that would be much easier than arguing with everybody. Just have a discussion between the mappers and figure it out.
