Could we expect a return of the link to Redtechs among the affiliates now.
Wasn't that the reason why he asked it to be removed?
Maybe that should be asked to Trigger?  |

There are also quite a few maps I would love to tweak even though they are not mine... but unless I ask (which is really rude when you think about it as it is "hey I liked your map but this and this and this and this are wrong and need changing") I do not touch, and I also have never asked.
Maps take alot of work, anyone who has the idea to alter one remember the work the original author put into it and think about that.  |
Just sooo every1 knows I herby give permission for any of my maps to be altered sold placed on a cover CD burned on disk and used as ashtrays just erm do them justice......I noticed some1 remade/altered Warlords Vibes which in itself was a remade/altered version of warlords............good for them ..and not to mention the countless rail conversions of my maps also great  |

well it would still be illeagal to sell maps anyway, legally they are the property of THQ/Volition, so we have no right to sell them in the first place... |

LMAO I was joking about the selling bit all I was trying to say was do what ya like with the maps I just noticed that on RFV there is a remake of of MediEvil dead by Me And Trotskie reamade by TBMULE stating that he has remade the rail only map version.............LMAO there is allready a version with all weapons and rail version,,,,but hey I don't care that map is like 2 years old. |

Okay there doesnt seam to be any of my maps at RFview "redone" by TBMule, but there is still one left there... i cant remember who it is bye, all mappers might want to check... |

when i remade mine, the only thing that was original was some of the brushes. the textures lighting music and other map FX where all my work |

haha suckers ... no one has remade my map because it is too crappy  ... wait ...  .
I would be kinda ticked off if someone remade my maps without my permission  . I honestly don't know why people would steal other peoples maps, seems like if they can modify the map they know very well how to make their own . |

Sometimes it can be scary making your own maps from scratch when youve never done it before... I can remember like 5 years ago id just download maps, edit them, test them with a few close friends... ect.. just for practice.. (to avoid anyone getting mad... no i did not release these, i dont think i even have them anymore...)
Like D2K's Massfaction ect... i remember my first map... it was HORRIBLE, ill try to find it later... |

I spent 100 hours making my first map LOL (http://redfaction.levels4you.com/downloads.l4y?review=5046&cat=41).....with lots of help from Sorrow and NCFrank. I had no idea what I was doing...barely knew the basic fucntions of RED. I could remake the same map today in an hour or two.  |

Hya all... RF Die hards...
I like to say something bout this. I'am in RF from "wwd" ( world wide demo ).
Still i'am in, running servers, software UI server file maker, Fighter
against crap and so on. ( Original RF counts ) !!
About the maps (BS)Mule changed. All maps ( like about 100 ) where actually
for clan internal use only. ( custom maps servers ) runned by me. Sinzz
there are lot maps that where not playeble by Mac users, or had very bad
disigng.. bugs and so on! Mule reincarnated good looking but bad playeble
maps into maps that every 1 can play whithout problems like crash, or bugs.
Frog asked , or better say told us BS in our forum about this problem.
We respect any GOOD mapmaker, but hey all maps that Mule fixed where
just to make sure a Mac player can join to olso. And offourse Mule aint
a map maker at all. But he makes sure that maps get playeble by all on RF.
In the past i tested maps for , Vibes, Trotskie and so on .. befor they
even released them at all. These days any dude dump maps on the net
looking good , but listen.. From 1900 CTF maps i have ! 700 maps aint
playeble at all. Bugs, crashes, not finnished and so on.
Please Think of the thing that one day fly map makers ( lot ) ! Paste a
RF map on the net and leave rf to play what ever. So there is no way
to contact them to get rights to change.

17 versions now ! Most made or remade by lot differend RF dudes.
Please do not pick on (BS)Mule bout this. He is one of the guys who makes
sure RF stays fun at all fronts.

I just found your post in the BS forums, NoClanFrank.
TBMule did alter the rfl files. He said he often couldn't find any contact information so he did it without permission.
In the forum I said that this is the wrong way, and it's not allowed.
I didn't know about it, but they say that most of the custom maps crash on the Mac computers because of performance problems or something like that... It looks like it was not only a problem with the music files. Even with a faster Mac PC it was not possible to play a lot of maps so TBMule "fixed" them. I have no idea what he did, but he must have added portals, removed things and added some.. which makes the map totally uncompatible to the original one.
Stuff like that is not allowed to do by other people than the author himself. I said that you could always ask the author to make fixes on his map, or ask for permission to make them yourself.
It's sad that all his work got removed from this place, but looking from the view of a mapper it wasn't wrong, because he may broke the copyrights several times. |

OK my bad for not checking the dates on the .rfl to see if they were the same as the original ones. Then again, TBmule didn't say anything about him only adding a AIFF file to the .vpp. If he had, I would have considered replacing the original one with the MAC friendly version. As you may know, Hapa Hanu has made a lot of files MAC friendly and he has uploaded them to filefront.com. Ultimately it's the user who upload the file that failed to add to the description what he had done and the reason why they got removed. If he likes, he can email them to me and I can compare the dates on the .rfl files to make sure they have not been touched and I would think about replacing the ones we have here at the site. I just don't want to have to versions at this site. The original and the MAC friendly version. I don't think the original authors would have a problem with us hosting this file at this site that a AIFF file has been added. I mean who wouldn't want as many people as possible to play their creations.

Well after reading what you posted REDFROG. I agree, we can't host the files at this site unless I got an email of PM from the author stating it was OK. Even then I would advise that they rename it so it won't get confused with the original one. That includes the name change on the level properties in the .rfl itself.  |
