Quoting sobe | .... What about geo-mod on the Source engine?! Can someone say Booya! lol |
Hmmm. Completely destructible terrain is always going to be a pain in the CENSORED for modern games, especially online multi player games.
That said I am a Day of Defeat: Source player and while destructible terrain doesn't feature in any of the stock maps as yet it is a major feature of some custom maps.
To be honest I can't see how it wouldn't work in multi maps in the same way it would work in maps like Installation X. Discreet points on the map that are destructible in a limited (and in the case of the Source engine, pre-planned) way. |

I think in 5 or 8 years game engines shall be reinvented and the current engines and the ones in making like UE3 are going to be obsolete.Look at the 80,s-early 90,s game,s were 2d and then Doom made it Half 3D.And then Quake a game with real 3D enviroments, and then there was the Trespasser engine way ahead of its time,The unreal engine, the Doom 3 engine, the Source and Havok engine,The FEAR one,UE3 and then who knows what?Stil the one engine with a tecnology i think every game will have in another 13 years is the GEO-Mod engine. The engine that is different from the others. |

the fear engine lag?
last time i checked fear have lag next to RF.
works as low as 28.8kbps dial up. shoot them and they die. unlike other games where u have to shoot 50m infront of them and hope they run into the bullet. |

Very untrue, FEAR even has a Minimum of a broadband connection on the box
And, have you even tried playing FEAR on dialup(56k and below)... It would be like playing Battlefield 2 on dialup.. That's not good!
I tried playing it at a friends(56k), and I could hardly move without getting shot down. |

yeah i tryed fear on dial up ( my dial up only 31.2k) every 1 died, so easy i owned every 1.
fear vietcong and RF are the only games that work well on dial up. it only stated to lag when the server was geting full up to 5-8 people on a server is good in fear on dial up. |

i just learned (ok maby it's been afew weeks) that the game SIN be continued. what does that have to do with any tihng you ask. well it's like this. be for the huge anounchment that was mad. did anyone even know about it (of corse a few people did). but for the most part it came as a huge surprize. bringing me to my point that RF 3 might still be in the works, and if it is there probly won't be any anounchments till right befor it hits the shelves. wich is exaclt what SIn has done........ to bad it on steam though |

I dont think that the source engine supports Geo-Mod technology, The Unreal 3 engine is ment to use it, alloing you to drive tanks through walls etc. Plus the Source Engine does not look all that good, Similar to the original with more eye candy The U3Engine looks a hell of a lot better. |
