Do you have the Red Tech help file? I've yet to download it because of its size (10 M , however it's on my weekend list. Sad how all my weekends until New Year's are set for downloading. Just hope I don't have to work during the weekends, hehe. Oh well, patience is a virtue |

Hey guys, i haven't read this whole topic yet, so i don't know what you have all been talking about but i just thought that i would add my 2 cents about SP maps.
I would really like to see more of them as well. So last year i began work on my own SP map. It's coming along very very slowly, but it's not looking too bad. It also has a real story line. In my opinion, it's not the best map i've seen but it's a whole lot better and longer than many of the other SP maps.
Unfortunately i don't have lots of time to work on it, so it probably won't be finished for some time.



Like i said. It's far from finished, but it's slowly getting better.
In the second picture, all of the buildings are filled with rooms, doors elevators and the like. In the last picture, those walls will look more realistic when i'm finished. |

If the file size is big i,ll still download it coz it looks cool.And vidi i actually used the default RED help file.If you search the originale helpfile there are some pretty good,complete and detailed tutorials there.You just have to search for some. |

Wow. How big is the current file? Have you visited the SPMC 2K5 thread yet? Even a beta of what you have right now with that level would more than suffice for at least 3rd place (assuming everyone interested actually maps, as we have a current total of 5 mappers, I think).
Although one shouldn't judge a map by its textures. Do you have the AI placed? How about an events list? Why do I even ask, as it is obvious you have done this already (keframed stuff, damage taken, etc).
Again: wow. Enter the beta and you might have actually won the first ever SPMC.
To Pred: how far do you have to search for this? I know its in there, as I saw something like it before. Would it be under the "Contents"?
Finally, to Silent_X: It's such a great map. My skills are no match for yours. Be merciful! (rofl. Seriously, you should enter your map in the SPMC) |

Yep Silent is the winner.I think nobody ever did a map that looks that good and i think it plays good too.And vidi type "AI" in the default helpfile and you have it.MP maps make RF,s multiplayer fresh while SP maps make RF fresh.Anyone agree,s with me? |

Hey Vidi. Thanks for the compliments guys, but i think the screenshots may make the level look better than it really is. I haven't even used custom textures in the level.
You really think it's worth submitting into SPMC 2K5? Ok, what the heck. Got nothing to loose eh? Unforunately this map doesn't comply with the SPMC 2K5 rules as i've already been working on it for about a week (altogether.)
EDIT>Ah, i just read over the rules again. The contest started LAST Saturday. Ha ha!
The file size is about 1.8 mb, all the AI has been placed, and there are plenty of triggers and events set up. |

Yes, the SPMC 2K5 thread would hold the rules. I'll type out a new version when everyone's clearly done requesting modifications to it.
You didn't use any customs? Wow, you must have had fun UV Unwrapping everything then.
Is the file you're going to release be the same as the full version (well, brush and texture-wise)? If you haven't read, you have a .5 MB leeway over the 2 MB, making a complete total of 2.5 MB (after that, you can have a point reduced from your score for every MB it is over. As we're on a base-ten score (out of 10), it shouldn't really affect your level's score, provided it more than makes up for the size with more fun. Have you RARed it under the highest settings? It is probably best if you squeeze out as much space as you can out of your maps.

Heh heh, gotta love UVunwrap Nice, 2.5 MB file limit. RARed up my file is only 450 Kb atm.
I think i'll take your advice and use some custom textures. It would certainly be useful in giving the big buildings better looks.
EDIT>Actually, i lied. I did use a custom sky box. |
