Some runs are good.. but some are bad... Its like playing the standard CTF maps for RF, (there are good ones and bad) I mean sure, they are all properly mapped and everything but what it comes down to is "personal opinion"
Cyrus has done enough for Faction by bringing out Deathrun series as it is..
The biggest problem with Deathrun series was the checkpoints, I mean they were an awesome idea (so you could get further at a quicker pace) but if somebody joins "late" after the checkpoints have been opened.. then they will be forever closed.
But i managed to work out a full-proof way of getting the checkpoints to work.. so if a player opens a checkpoint, then somebody joins the server.. the checkpoint is always open |

Quoting Vidi44 | Well, REDFROG, that is the way of SP mapping. It is very dedious work, however none can compare to it. MP may be good, but only if you have people on the server. SP can be played anytime and has all the events possible in it, meaning you can do more things in it.
Well, I only took the 3 screenshots and sent them to Pred. The problem with SEFOTRF Mission 2:Retaliation (the level's name) is that it's very fast-paced. For all that happens, you'll see only 80% of it. The good news is that because of the random AI movements, you'll never see the exact same thing again. Perhaps I'll put in a delay switch to let the player see the end of the level's events (because the way it is now, all enemy AI are dead before you get in the final room, meaning screenshots would be almost impossible to take, even using camera2).
Just to think, I was going to release it this/next week (whenever it would be for the next RF update, or the one after that). Since there's obviously so many problems, I'll have a Canadian time fixing it (especially the textures, which I think I might skip doing, as in the game, all the textures (for just the 4 walls and ceiling) total around 1,000 or more. Aside from being tedius to select them all, it wipes out my clock cycles for about 2 minutes to retexture them all). So, what I'll do is set a delay on the AI in the back rooms, which should fix the problems with loading and playing on older machines; as well as let the player see more action. How's that sound everyone?
PS to Pred: in the water level (mission 1?), I noticed you have a lot of cutscenes. Do you want me to try and fix them, or just delete them? I don't have much experience with cutscenes, so I might have to offload the file to MF or D2K to work on that. Also, I moved the sub to the end of the one tunnel and deleted the other (since I didn't know what to do with it and entering it tended to end the game). Even though you told me to try my best to make all the maps make sense and work together, that one is going to be one Canadian map to try to work in with Mission 2 (even with just itself, the map makes no sense to me). |
You can delete them I was just testing with them thats all
ps.I read your post, all of it and the other previous ones too,no matter how long they were |

Good news: I finally finished the level I've been working on and got it posted!
Except for the fact that I don't know what the hell an FTP client is or how to upload files with it. How the hell does this work? If you people want members to post stuff, make it easier! |
Looks like somebody has a case of the Mondays. |

Just use Firefox. It's a better browser and has a built-in FTP client. FF ownz! Get it at www.getfirefox.com
Ok Pred, in the morning, I'll do that. Now, sleep, if I can get past those 5 sodas and 2 cups of coffee I had less than an hour ago (the sodas were high-caffine. Not RedBull, but almost). Unlike others, caffine either will keep me up all night, or put me to sleep, depending on how much and some other unknown causes. Yep, I'm strange. It'll be funny seeing me study for my first college exam. The more I drink, the more tired I get |

I dont see how they are A: harder to make.. Its using the same editor to create the same brushwork and same particles.. and whatever else you want to make..
B: by depth, i assume you mean size.. well you could still make an MP map as big as an SP,
C:You would need to internet to download the file from this site to start with .. and of course you cant play with other players in SP.
D:Its all a matter of opinion on fun, but i havent seen all that many good and fun SP maps.. |

Their harder to make coz all the events and blah, blah, blah in RED They have more depth i mean not because of size but because of plot, story line,AI scripting. And yes you do need to have Internet to download it but thats it just download it and play saves money RF View has some good sp maps so is here.X-5 saga,Mik57,ever heard of that? |

I too was once like that. I have absolutly no problems with IE but i decided to try out firefox as it is what my friends and also my school were using. I now continue using firefox as it seems a better browser (main reason it's not microsoft) and just generally has better userability ... i like to muck around with settings in every program i own . If firefox did somehow become unusable i would have no problems reverting back to IE |

Yeah i have X-5 Saga - Starport (best custom SP map i have seen).. it took me around 10 minutes to finish.. and i havent played it since due to the fact i have seen it from start to finish.
Events in single player are actually easier than in MP, and who says you dont have a plot, story line and AI scripting in MP maps?
Finally, encouraging all RF players to go and play SP missions on their lonesome will only draw away people playing on the online servers.. Eventually when nobody is playing online.. what will be left of RF? |
