I'll guess I'll give WinXP64bit a shot. Of course installing and setting up an OS isn't difficult, just time consuming. I'm just going to reformat my system when I put my new hardware together anyway. Its always nice to start off fresh.

Thats why i try to keep everything of mine all organised
atm i have partitioned my HDD into 3 partitions
C:\ OS and programs
D:\ Games, music and Game realted progs and stuff
E:\ all my crap that i work on and all game vids i got aswell as My Documents

So C: and D: are always organised even all my Mp3's are sorted by artist then album but for E: i have to go through it once a week and just clear out all the crap i dont need anymore or better yet back some of it up

I only have one hard drive , that just means, I need to get off my butt and do somthing about it. That, and an 80gb drive is not large enough to partition. But until then:

C:/ everything in its own sub directory
-music
- UT2004
- other major games
- critical files (program files, Windows) etc.

I also have only 1 HDD which i have seperated into seperate drives as it makes organising that much easier IMO

Really?
Can you use different file systems (NTFS, FAT32..) on different partitions on one single drive? I didn't know you can..

Is it possible to create additional partitions without formatting the harddrive?

Windows98 needs FAT32, the harddrive of my old computer is set on NTFS. I think I've read somewhere that it isn't possible to set it back to FAT32 without a formation (the files will become incompatible or something like that).

I have installed WindowsXP on my old computer, but also want Windows98 on it, without need to buy a new drive for it..
That will only work on a different partition then. (that is set on FAT32) I have read that you should install the OSs from old to new, not sure if this includes installations on different partitions.

I didn't want to touch it yet..afraid to mess up something and all my work goes down the toilet.

I believe it is but it will take a lot more time if the drive has data on it as it then has to not only partition it but alos move all data around (i would suggest backing up important work ... just in case)

I do believe it is not possible to change an existing filesystem to another without formatting as yes the files willnot convert to the other filesystem aswell

You most probably should install OS's on different partitions to save system files becoming corrupted through their different uses on the two different OS's.

Nice! I was thinking of getting a Alienware laptop when I was looking for a new comp, but I decided, I already have a laptop and it was time to get a nice desktop, so I got an Alienware desktop insted. Is the laptop big, or is it normal laptop size? What specs did you get?
