guided fusion the closes you could get to that is have it hon in on targets.

flak gun that bounces of things is doable, all you have to do is edit the tbl, there was a mod made that was named rubber walls that has weapon fire bounce off walls.

the electric gun is doable just have to swap it with the flame thrower and make new particle effect. Ive seen that effect done in some kind of star wars mod on this site.

And yes, the electric gun IS doable as Darkness said, except edit the damage type done from fire/flame to electric.

E><tin4 is probably the first person to actually make an intelligent comment on here (I'll admit, my RF3 posts were vetirded to Canada at times). Nice job in getting actual details for RF3.

mind you that it only works on metal surfaces, unless you want to make levels that are entirely coated in metal textures... the metal richoet is hard coded in the mtl textures...

you guys always have to attempt to find something wrong with my advice...

the only way i see an electric gun in RF hitting multiple targets is making it a scread shot weapons like the shotgun.

I'd like to create a RF3 mod for UT2004.. It seems to be pointless to use RF since you've got no possibilities. All weapons will basically still be the same in RF. Just with another look and sound.

I want to throw grenades while I'm holding a gun for example

But most games need C++ programming experience..and my c++ knowedgle is as large as a 0btye VPP in your multi folder.

For noobs folks who want to actually see what it takes to make RF3 (not the mod, as like REDFROG said, the RF engine is overtaxed as is), download Dev-C++. It has an intriguing and well informative help file that actually can teach you how to write in C. From there, it takes only a few mental rearrangements of the syntax to get your mind set into C++ mode. It can be found at www.bloodshed.net

As I've surely said a myriad times, C++ is definately not the language to learn for your first language. I'm a fairly-semi-almost-but-not-quite professional-amateur programmer who is currently in the process of learning C++. To be quick about it: there is a reason I have that quote in my signature (the one that reads "Don't go there. It's ugly and it never stops being ugly". It refers to an actual line in a C++ book I found (it was in the prologue, warning readers that they have to have some good and serious prior programming experience before learning C++)).

To be slow about it: just look at our beloved RF. It took a team of some 20-30 programmers years (years) to write RF. This isn't even considering the prior work when RF was just going to be Descent 3 (or 4?). Practically the entire Geo-mod was done under the Descent 3 (4?) title (or was it the character skins and modeling?). That alone took almost 2 years! RF extends beyond the 1997-2001 that the intro screen says. I'd guesstamate that then entire thing, from concept to code, took about 6-7 years. Now, knowing that you're certainly not a professional, do you expect to make RF3 a reality at all?

An aside to some rumors: RF3 is rumored to exist. Volition and crew, the same 20-30 folks I spoke of, have rumored to have been working on RF3 ever since RF2 fell to Canada in its Canadian false-glory. If this is true (99/100 it isn't), and knowing that RF3 currently doesn't exist, you can see even further how RF3 is impossible. It could only be done by a complete re-work of the engine. Perhaps just skip a few steps an modify the Source engine (from CS: Source fame) and then throw in the RF1 multiplayer abilities. Even so, reworking and modifying Source so it could have the ingenius AI of RF and also fit under legal issues, would take a few years.

Now, an explanation on some information:

I got the stuff about RF being derived from Descent 3/4 from Wikipedia, the world's best and worst online encyclopedia. As such, don't expect the Descent stuff to make the slightest bit of sense (even the article from Wikipedia doesn't make much sense. Further, it just plain args me off how they ruined the game by writing such a poor article).

The rumors are from an old RF friend of mine. He doesn't play anymore, and he's 110% anti-THQ and anti-Volition (mostly because of RF2). He's also the same person who stopped eating in school because he thought it contained some psycho-reactive mind-control drugs (brown-bagged every day, and it was hilarious when he constantly explained why). Thus, don't trust that information past the Canadian dollar's worth in America (rofl, Canadian dollars = practically nothing "down south").

The stuff about C++ comes from my own experiences, and that of "The Preacher" (no, not the person from codesermon.org. The Preacher is a very good programmer friend of mine, who carries his C++ Bible everywhere (I feel like I said this already)). [red\C++ is the anti-language. [/red] It is the language that I'd wish upon my enemies to learn. Sure, its great and all, but its insane to learn and with C there's little incentive to learn it anymore (actually, after Java there was little incentive to learn C++, just so long as you weren't working with graphics). Still, as far as I know, C hasn't been used for a game, so you might still need to learn C++ anyway. Even its creator, Bjorn Stroslep (sorry if I misspelled) doesn't like it ("With C, its easy to shoot yourself in the foot. With C++ its more difficult, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off"); which is fairly hilarious.

In conclusion: don't trust what I said and just listen to the Volition crew. They're certainly more reliable than a half-cracked friend of mine, a noob programmer, and Wikipedia.

I think doing a rf3 mod is stupid plus the graphics will look absolutly crap for a RF3.
doing a rf2 mod is not so bad coz rf2 craphics are only just better then RF1 and you can make the models and graphics more detailed then they are now in RF1 to look the same or even better then RF2. we can make the graphics better coz todays computers will handle it. i rest my case

oh what goober said bout making a rf3 mod for UT2004 is a good idea. using unreal 2 engine for RF3 is good idea coz u can get heaps better graphics,but the muti player engine side of thing in ur2 engine is crap for all the slow conectionm people. so the net coding will have to be changed to make it lag like rf not like UT or call of duty.
i think RF uses positional mode for multi and most games use like all the UT's and COD and battle feild use input exchange mode for muti, which makes it lag all crapy with the bulet taking like 30 seconds to come out of the gun. lol
