but unlike "rocky horror" the movie was actually good ... the phenomenon part is that you would think people would forget about it by now  ... |

I agree, I wanted first to add more detail about the description like; ...is not focused on war action and is not a block buster recipe, but is a real nice movie with deeper acting, nice screenplay and well directed....
To not leave the topic for a too long period, Goober did you talk with TrotSkie about the possibility of explosive gibs only?

I honestly have no idea why you feel that bringing a weapon from a highly realistic game like CoD4 into a futuristic game like RF is different from bringing a weapon based on one from a highly unrealistic game like Quake 3 to another highly unrealistic game like LEGO. Seems to me that Quake 3 is more like LEGO than CoD4 is Red Faction.
The weapon models in LEGO have low polygon counts (with the exception of the sniper rifle) to increase framerates especially on low end PCs, while still looking good. Sort of the same reason why all but 1 weapons don't have first person hands. You wouldn't see more than a finger of them anyway and they would just add an extra ~1000 polygons.

No, I haven't because I can't honestly think of how that would work. They're not traditional death animations. |

I used that example because the movie seems to be able to bring out a crowd of people dressed like transexuals (even if they are completely straight) in the middle of the night to watch the movie ... a link really wasn't necessary ... sorry if the comparison was too much for virgin eyes
if thats not Phenomenona i dunno what is  ...
Ive heard that the movie is only fun with audience participation  ... (people will scream out certain lines, sling water around, throw rice, etc. depending on the scene)
Basically im saying that Full Metal Jacket isn't a awesome movie like star wars or something ... yet it still sticks in our head when we think of war movies ... |

To be honest, I love this Gib thing... Infact, I smell a Unreal Tournament mod coming along .
So how ironic is that. Red Frog introduce's Red Faction to the Unreal Community with his RF mod for UT04
Next, Unreal is brought to the slightly small community of Red Faction with a new mod UT mod for RF.
and If you can get Transolcators to work in RF, ill be damned! |

You just come to lose me I don't love much block buster movie most of the time, I always look about how the movie is build, I have a passion about how well is directed, etc... Star Wars have many special effect for sure, but I cannot forget all is flaws, like very basic dialog and how the legendary Dark Varder in old series just look a little noob without substance. I respect old Star Wars for many things for there time and I need to rewatch them 1 day, but new ones for me, is just a flashy show with nothing else GoOd in memory. I don't want to burns your bubble, particularly if you are a Star Wars fan, you have all rights to appreciate this more than any others movie.I agree that Full Metal Jacket is not a pre chew movie for the mass market, but is at least one of the best movies of Stanley Kubrick.

Well, Im not saying that i think Star Wars is the best movie ever ... im not really into the blockbuster movies as much as the good story ones (but they are hard to come across sometimes  ) ... i was just trying to use a generic movie that considered awesome ... and you are right ... the new ones are crap ... probably because they lost most of their ties to historical stories and legends ...
even though the older ones were blockbuster type movies ... they were also had a pretty damn good theme to it ... any time you can take historical aspects mixed with futuristic machines you can tell a pretty good story ...
the newer ones were to pull in a younger crowd to enjoy star wars (hence jar jar binx, clowny bots) ... it was a financial tactic ... i think it didn't meet its expectations because of its kiddy-like jokes took too much of the seriousness away from the story ...
in another note:
The old george lucas hated large corporations
now he is the owner of lucas arts  ...
obviously his goals have changed from telling a great story, to what would pull in the most money  ...
Off topic: Oooh, he made A.I. ?!?! ... didn't know that ... good movie  ... gotta watch that again sometime soon ...
Also off topic: i watched the movie "Sunshine" the other day ... if you can ignore the science inaccuracies ... its a pretty good movie  |
